  • Serve as the primary scientific expert for client stakeholders, ensuring alignment between medical strategy, brand objectives, and scientific integrity.
  • Oversee development and review of high-quality scientific content including manuscripts, congress materials, training content, and MLR-regulated assets.
  • Ensure adherence to publication standards and industry guidelines such as GPP, ICMJE, and PhRMA requirements.
  • Lead scientific review processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with journal, congress, and client-specific standards.
  • Manage client engagement activities including workshops, advisory boards, speaker training, and scientific presentations.
  • Support business growth through scientific input in proposals, pitches, and strategic account development.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of scientific writers and associate scientific directors, including performance management and career development.
  • Oversee operational planning, resource allocation, and workflow optimization across assigned accounts.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of all scientific outputs.
Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in a scientific or healthcare-related field (PhD, PharmD, MD, MSc preferred), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in medical communications or medical writing, with exposure to multi-account or high-complexity project leadership.
  • At least 2+ years of people management and team leadership experience.
  • Strong expertise in scientific writing, data interpretation, and editorial excellence across medical publications.
  • Deep understanding of clinical research, regulatory frameworks, and publication guidelines (GPP, ICMJE, etc.).
  • Proven ability to lead client engagements, facilitate scientific discussions, and present complex data effectively.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with experience contributing to account growth and scientific strategy development.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with scientific/medical communication tools and platforms.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Benefits:
  • Competitive annual salary ranging from CAD $152,000 to $173,000 based on experience and qualifications.
  • Remote or hybrid work flexibility depending on location.
  • Opportunity to lead high-impact, global medical communications accounts.
  • Strong emphasis on career development, mentorship, and leadership growth.
  • Exposure to leading pharmaceutical and life sciences clients worldwide.
  • Collaborative, science-driven, and innovation-focused work environment.
