Job Description
This position is primarily responsible for patient support by checking in and checking out patients, collecting patient balances, updating practice system, answering calls and directing callers to appropriate personnel, and other administrative and clerical work as assigned.
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person or over the phone.
- Cancel any patient appointments from the automated appointment reminder calls if the patient chose the option to cancel their appointment.
- Have the patient sign and complete forms (new patients, consent forms, financial forms, etc.)
- Call no-show patients.
- Hand out proper medication/disease education requested by the provider.
- Sign-in any visitors (non-patient visitors).
- Verify and change patient’s insurance.
- Collect copayment and any balance due.
- Scan and index documents/forms into patient charts.
- Balance daily batch (money).
- Scan in fee-tickets.
- Scan in financial policy forms.
- Collect the no-show fee, if necessary, and reschedule patients.
- Print out orders/scripts placed by the provider.
- Have the physicians sign for samples.
- Trains new employees for front end.
- Medical records.
- Performs other clerical duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Medical Practice Software, Windows, and Microsoft Office.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a medical office setting or a similar customer service experience is required.
Preferred Education and Experience
Associates degree.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
