Job Description
Are you someone who likes to give a hand up! Goodwill Industries of New Mexico (GINM) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Heat Pump Trainer to join our team. As a Heat Pump Trainer, you will be responsible for teaching the designated curriculum to learners in GINM’s classroom and training lab. This position plays an essential role in ensuring course content is delivered at a consistently high quality that maximizes learner understanding and their potential for obtaining employment. The Trainer will participate in the Goodwill Clean Tech Accelerator (GCTA) Train-the-Trainer (T3) Program, involving theoretical and practical training components to become certified to teach specific courses within the GCTA program. Essential Duties:
- Adhere to attendance and punctuality policies of Goodwill Industries of NM.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills in all interactions.
- Implement curriculum, lesson plans, training calendars, and activities aligned with program standards.
- Complete a 231–312-hour T3 certification process, including shadowing the first and second student cohorts.
- Set up, maintain, and manage the training lab and equipment.
- Enforce safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA and GINM safety policies.
- Conduct written and oral exams and evaluate student performance during lab sessions.
- Teach proper handling of construction-related problems through demonstration and modeling.
- Monitor learner performance and keep leadership informed of any issues.
- Complete learner progress reports and other required documentation.
- Ensure learners comply with attendance and program policies.
- Stay current with required industry certifications and training (GINM, Goodwill Industries International, or grant requirements).
- Participate in community events for program awareness, recruitment, and job placement.
- Assist with recruitment and job placement activities.
- Collaborate with department leadership on program logistics, documentation, feedback, and improvements.
- Participate in development, coordination, and implementation of program budgets; monitor and manage costs.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with GINM, CARF, and HIPAA standards where applicable.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
This position requires regular use of hands and arms for handling materials, operating tools, and performing technical installation tasks, along with frequent standing, walking, speaking, and hearing. The role involves lifting and moving materials (generally up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds) and may require bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must be comfortable standing for extended periods, working at heights, and using manual and electric tools. Work may occur in varied environments, including outdoor conditions such as heat, sun exposure, or inclement weather during events or job-related activities. In addition to physical demands, the role includes administrative and instructional responsibilities requiring typical mental focus, organization, and communication skills.

Requirements:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and or abilities required for the position. Individuals must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Education, Engineering, Environmental Science) OR an Associate degree with additional technical certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years in a teaching/training role, or 3 years in a technical role with training responsibilities.
- Ability to obtain GCTA certification; OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
- Must have a valid New Mexico driver's license, clean driving record, and a dependable vehicle.
