Job Description
Job Summary
The Leachate Plant Operator / Project Manager is responsible for the operation, maintenance, compliance, and overall management of leachate treatment systems and related environmental projects. This role ensures efficient treatment plant performance, regulatory compliance, project delivery, budget control, and coordination with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeachate Plant Operations- Operate and monitor leachate treatment systems, pumps, tanks, piping, and related equipment.
- Perform routine inspections, sampling, testing, and process adjustments to maintain treatment efficiency.
- Monitor flow rates, chemical feed systems, and treatment parameters.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, maintenance records, and compliance reports.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Manage chemical inventories and order operational supplies as required.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee leachate treatment and environmental projects from initiation through completion.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, and project teams.
- Track project progress and ensure milestones are achieved on time and within budget.
- Prepare project reports, proposals, and client updates.
- Coordinate with landfill operators, engineers, environmental consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Support capital improvement projects and system upgrades.
- Enforce company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety inspections and training activities.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and waste materials.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and environmental regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Wastewater Operations, or related field preferred.
- Wastewater or leachate treatment operator certification preferred.
- 3+ years of experience operating wastewater, leachate, or industrial treatment systems.
- 2+ years of project management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pumps, treatment processes, controls, and laboratory testing.
- Experience with environmental compliance reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management systems.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
