In-Person Drafter/Detailer – $25–$30/hour – Frederick, MD

Are you a detail-oriented professional with a knack for design and a passion for precision? Miscellaneous Metals, Inc., an award-winning specialty trade contractor based in Frederick, MD, is seeking in-house Detailers/Drafters to join our team. This is a full-time, in-person position. In this role, you’ll create and review detailed shop drawings for stairs, handrails, embeds, ladders, and other structural/miscellaneous metal components used in commercial construction. You’ll work closely with project managers to bring complex designs to life while ensuring accuracy, code compliance, and field coordination.

Essential Job Duties:

• Review and analyze project specifications, architectural drawings, and structural documents to determine scope and requirements.
• Produce precise shop drawings and erection plans in AutoCAD for fabrication and field installation.
• Generate accurate bills of materials to support purchasing and planning.
• Collaborate with project managers on submittals, revisions, and coordination with fabrication and field teams.
• Contribute to cost estimating and identify potential project constraints.

• At least 1 year of experience using AutoCAD to produce fabrication and installation drawings.
• At least 1 year of experience detailing shop drawings for miscellaneous metals, such as stairs, railings, ladders, and embeds, used in commercial construction.
• Experience reading architectural and structural drawings and interpreting technical specifications.
• Experience in construction estimating and material takeoffs is preferred.
• Familiarity with fabrication and field installation processes is a plus.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and meeting tight deadlines.

• Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Proficient math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and materials.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• AutoCAD (required).
• Basic office equipment: computer, printer, scanner.
• Occasional use of measurement tools and blueprint scales.
• Office-based position with regular collaboration with internal teams.

• Sign-On Bonus: $1,000 at first paycheck + $1,000 after 90 days
