The Role

The Physician Privileging Specialist (PPS) is responsible for completing the privileging processes for physician radiologists of Real Radiology. The PPS ensures that facility medical privileges are submitted appropriately and checks the status of privilege applications for assigned facilities. The PPS will report directly to the Physician Services Manager. This position is full time and in the office during regular business hours.

Job Functions

  • Process initial privileging and payor enrollment applications for new physicians
  • Gather and verify required documentation, such as education, work history, licenses, certifications, malpractice insurance, and references
  • Assist physicians in obtaining hospital privileges, and provider enrollments
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with physicians and internal departments regarding the status of privileges and payor enrollment
  • Identify and escalate issues or delays in the credentialing process
  • Manage and process application requirements for all physicians
  • Track and monitor physician reappointment dates to ensure compliance
  • Maintain and update physician records, databases, and spreadsheets
  • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of all activities
  • Act as a liaison between physicians, hospitals, and other credentialing bodies to obtain verifications and resolve issues
  • Provide timely updates to relevant internal departments regarding physician credentialing status
  • Utilize multiple communication methods, including phone, email, fax, and mail
  • Support physician inquiries related to privileging and payor status
  • Identify opportunities for improving privileging and payor processes and recommend best practices
  • Remain current on industry regulations, requirements, and compliance standards
  • Support the Physician Services department with projects and assigned tasks
  • Preferred Talents

  • Understanding of medical credentialing processes
  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology
  • Awareness of HIPAA regulations
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Effective problem solving and decision making
  • Attention to detail and organized
  • Proficient in computer literacy and Microsoft Suite
  • Experience using office equipment (phone, fax, mail)
  • Strong team mentality
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • One or more years of experience in a medical office environment or equivalent
  • Physician credentialing, licensing or privileging experience preferred
