Clinical Director – Hickory Treatment Centers
Department: Clinical
Direct Report To: Executive Director
The Clinical Director (CD), is a lead management member of the treatment team, functioning as the primary facilitator for all clients on the continuum between admission and discharge. The CD monitors the progress of the treatment plan and delegates the plan for clinical engagement by the team.
Under the immediate supervision of the Executive Director, the Clinical Director is responsible for each component of the client’s treatment planning, including all programmatic implementation.

- Master’s or Doctoral Degree in a Behavioral Health discipline, with a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience. An active, unrestricted, clinical license is required.
- The ability to prioritize and multi-task, with exceptional time management skills. Ability to competently encourage and inspire direct reports in the delivery of stellar clinical services through professionalism. Demonstration of a client-centered team approach, with advanced computer skills.
- Scheduling flexibility REQUIRED to accommodate varied client admissions.
- Must hold a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and provide own insured transportation
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & Clinical Standards
- Maintains adherence to HIPAA in all client-related communication
- Demonstrates competency in the DSM – V
- Ensures all programming meets Medicaid and DMHA guidelines
- Reviews and signs Biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other clinical documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Ensures cultural sensitivity, ethical treatment, and professional boundaries are upheld across the clinical team.
Clinical Documentation & Quality Assurance
- Audits the EMR for all clients to ensure timely and accurate documentation
- Audits therapy notes daily and provides feedback as needed
- Conducts routine competency reviews, performance evaluations, and job-specific training.
- Provides clinical reports to insurance companies and manages pre-authorization requirements during admission
Leadership, Supervision & Staff Development
- Provides supervision to Therapists and the Clinical Manager
- Conducts interviews, recommends candidates for hire, and participates in disciplinary processes
- Leads new hire orientation and introduces staff to clinical department operations
- Provides monthly in-service training, treatment team meetings, and Joint Commission related training
- Conducts weekly supervision with therapists per organizational requirements
Program Operations & Team Coordination
- Answers all inquiries related to treatment and programming
- Assigns and manages on-call rotations, holiday schedules, and PTO coverage for the clinical team
- Ensures all duties assigned to therapists are competed, including maintaining a caseload of 5 – 8 clients
- Documents client sessions and manages discharges as needed
Direct Clinical Services
- Provides therapy and maintains a clinical caseload
- Ensures ethical, culturally sensitive and clinically appropriate care for all clients
- Holds process groups twice weekly
