About This Position
Position Summary:
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking a variety of menu items This role ensures that all food is prepared safely, professionally, and in compliance with food safety regulations, while being attractively presented to guests in a timely and consistent manner.
Line Cook maintains a clean, organized, and food-safe workstation while properly rotating and storing food supplies to support quality and efficiency. This position is located at Glenwoodie Golf Course and requires flexibility to work a varied schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs. The hourly rate for this position is $20.00 per hour.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare and cook food items, including grilled items, sandwiches, soups, salads, and sliced meats, in accordance with approved recipes, portion controls, and food safety standards.
- Coordinate food preparation to ensure all items within an order are completed and presented simultaneously, while maintaining proper food temperatures and quality.
- Receive, store, label, date, and rotate perishable and non-perishable food items using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures to ensure freshness and compliance with health regulations.
- Maintain compliance with local health department regulations and food safety practices, including proper handwashing, glove use, prevention of cross-contamination, and monitoring time and temperature controls.
- Clean and sanitize workstations, utensils, equipment, and food contact surfaces according to established sanitation schedules and procedures.
- Contribute to a positive clubhouse culture by working efficiently during peak service times, maintaining professionalism, and supporting a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrate a hospitality-focused approach by ensuring high standards of food presentation, consistency, and quality for all guests.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service flow and accommodate guest needs when possible.
- Report on unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or food safety concerns promptly to supervisory staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support kitchen operations, special events, and seasonal demands.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain a Food Service Sanitation Certification (e.g., ServSafe).
- Demonstrated cooking skills; culinary training is a plus.
- Minimum of two (2) years of restaurant or commercial cooking experience preferred.
- Ability to read, measure, and follow recipes accurately.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Knowledge of food safety guidelines or willingness to learn.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a kitchen and clubhouse environment at the golf course.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, moderately noisy work environment, with frequent interruptions during peak service periods.
- Requires strong organizational, time management, and stress management skills to meet operational demands.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work in a noisy environment, and lift heavy items (e.g., kegs, crates).
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support operations, events, and peak service times.
Physical Demands:
Requires frequent standing, walking, and use of hands and arms, with occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching. Ability to lift 10 pounds regularly and over 20 pounds occasionally. Must have adequate vision (close, distance, peripheral, and depth) to safely perform duties. Reasonable accommodation may be provided as required.
