About the Role:
The Accounting Assistant - Accounts Payable (AP) plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our organization by ensuring that all vendor invoices are processed accurately and timely. This position is responsible for managing the accounts payable cycle, which includes verifying, coding, and entering invoices into the accounting system. The successful candidate will also assist in reconciling vendor statements and resolving discrepancies, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency of the finance department. Additionally, this role will involve preparing reports and assisting with month-end closing activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Ultimately, the Accounting Assistant will help facilitate smooth financial operations, supporting the organization's growth and stability.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial software.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Process and record vendor invoices in the accounting system.
- Verify accuracy of invoices and ensure proper coding for expense tracking.
- Assist in reconciling vendor statements and resolving any discrepancies.
- Prepare and maintain accounts payable reports for management review.
- Support month-end closing activities by providing necessary documentation and reports.
