Job Description
FP&A Manager
Location: Akron, OH (HQ) — in-office role
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Member of: Finance Team
Position Summary
The FP&A Manager is the analytical engine of Premier Home Pros' finance function, turning data from QuickBooks Online, Fishbowl, Lead Perfection, and ADP into the reporting, models, and forecasts that drive decision-making across a rapidly expanding, multistate home remodeling platform. This role owns and extends the Microsoft Fabric / Power BI semantic model that underpins executive reporting, builds and maintains sophisticated Excel models and forecasts, and is expected to bring modern AI tooling — agentic AI workflows layered on top of strong Excel and Fabric fundamentals — to bear on recurring finance workflows historically done by hand. This is a builder's role: someone who can move fluidly between a board-ready variance narrative and the Excel model underneath it, and who sees AI-assisted automation as core to how modern FP&A should operate, not a side project.
Core Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Own the monthly forecast and annual budget process across revenue, cost of install, and operating expense lines; partner with Operations and Sales leadership on market-level plans.
- Build and maintain variance analysis (actual vs. budget vs. forecast) at the company, market, and cost-center level; translate variances into a clear narrative for ownership and the executive team.
- Develop and maintain financial models supporting new market launches, capital allocation decisions, and Fifth Third covenant compliance and EBITDA addback tracking.
- Build sophisticated, audit-ready Excel models with clean architecture, sensitivity toggles, and scenario cases that hold up under executive and lender scrutiny.
- Support the month-end close process (five-phase checklist, revenue reconciliation) alongside the Controller/bookkeeper, with a focus on close-cycle acceleration and control quality.
Data, Analytics & Reporting Infrastructure
- Own and extend the Microsoft Fabric / Power BI semantic model sourced from QBO, Fishbowl (MySQL), ADP, and Lead Perfection.
- Build and maintain sophisticated Excel models — three-statement models, market-level P&Ls, capital allocation and scenario models, covenant and addback schedules — as the primary tool for financial analysis and decision support.
- Use SQL as needed to pull and validate data from source systems in support of Excel-based analysis and Fabric reporting; deep SQL development is not the focus of this role.
- Build and maintain the CFO finance update workflow and recurring reporting packages (Excel, Power BI) for ownership and the executive leadership team.
- Maintain the open items log, Fifth Third covenant tracker, and other recurring finance operating documents; keep source-of-truth model logic documented and auditable.
AI-Enabled Finance Workflows
- Design and build agentic AI workflows and tools (e.g., Claude/MCP-based agents, scripted automations) that streamline recurring FP&A tasks — variance flagging, reconciliation checks, report generation, data validation.
- Identify manual, repeatable finance processes and prototype AI-assisted or automated replacements; work with the CFO to evaluate and roll out new AI frameworks and tooling as they mature.
- Serve as the finance team's hands-on owner of AI tooling: prompt design, workflow architecture, and integration with the Fabric semantic model and other finance systems.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with the COO's team on install production economics, DC throughput costs, and market-level P&L performance.
- Partner with the CSO's team on sales-to-install revenue timing, pipeline-to-forecast reconciliation, and commission/cost modeling.
- Support the CFO on lender reporting, ownership communications, and ad hoc analysis for strategic decisions (equity structuring, market expansion, vendor terms).
Direct Reports
None initially; this is an individual-contributor role focused on hands-on analysis, modeling, and reporting.
Performance Expectations
- Forecast Accuracy: Budget-to-actual variance within target thresholds by market and by line; forecast revisions delivered on a predictable monthly cadence.
- Reporting: Timeliness and accuracy of the monthly reporting package and CFO finance update; Fabric semantic model uptime and data freshness.
- Automation: Number and impact of manual processes converted to automated or AI-assisted workflows; hours of manual finance work eliminated.
- Close Support: Contribution to month-end close cycle time and accuracy of revenue and cost reconciliations.
- Covenant & Lender Reporting: Timely, accurate Fifth Third covenant tracking and EBITDA addback reporting with zero compliance surprises.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of FP&A, corporate finance, or related analytical experience, ideally including exposure to multi-site or multi-market operating businesses.
- Expert-level Excel skills — complex financial modeling, LET/LAMBDA and dynamic arrays, sensitivity and scenario analysis — with a proven track record of building models from scratch that others rely on.
- Working knowledge of SQL and modern data platforms sufficient to pull, validate, and troubleshoot data; Microsoft Fabric and/or Power BI experience preferred but not a deep engineering requirement.
- Demonstrated experience building or deploying AI-driven tools or agentic workflows in a business context — not just using AI chat tools, but architecting automations.
- Ability to translate messy, multi-source data (ERP, WMS, CRM, payroll) into clean, decision-ready analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfort presenting analysis directly to executive leadership and ownership.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Akron, OH area; this is an in-office role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, Fishbowl, ADP, or similar ERP/WMS/HRIS systems.
- Background in home services, residential remodeling, construction, or another distributed field-operations business.
- Exposure to private-equity or lender reporting requirements (covenant tracking, EBITDA addbacks).
- BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA, CFA, or equivalent a plus.
Work Style
This is an in-office role based at Premier Home Pros' Akron, OH headquarters. The FP&A Manager works in close daily coordination with the CFO and Controller, and periodically with market and distribution-center leadership to ground models and reporting in operational reality. Light travel to the Brunswick Distribution Center or operating markets may be required occasionally.
