Job Summary – Manager in Training

The Manager in Training (MIT) is an exciting opportunity to develop leadership skills while learning all aspects of running a successful convenience store. The MIT will help lead employees through daily operations, including bookkeeping, customer service, marketing, sales and profitability, scheduling, inventory control, and employee training and development.

The MIT will bring a positive, energetic attitude to each shift, encourage teamwork, support employees, and help create a welcoming environment for customers. This position plays an important role in building a strong team and maintaining the friendly, professional image of Farmers Co-op Oil Company.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in business administration, Retail Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• 3-5 years of progressive retail management experience, with a strong emphasis on food service operations in a convenience or retail setting.
• Proven track record of successfully managing multiple locations and leading teams to achieve performance goals.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
• Proficiency in retail management software, inventory systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the assigned area.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit for extended periods, and type and enter data promptly.
• Be able to react to a fire by lifting a fire extinguisher weighing 25 pounds and moving it to the fire area.
• Have sufficient visual acuity to operate handheld devices.
• Be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances.
• Be able to stand, bend, kneel, and reach for up to 10 hours.

Work Environment:

• The MIT will work primarily in a C-store and food service environment and will spend considerable time traveling to various store locations within the area.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support store operations.
