  • Partner with machine learning, hardware, and core software teams to ensure data pipelines, models, middleware, and system components operate within defined safety envelopes.
  • Build rigorous testing frameworks and validation strategies capable of demonstrating reliability and safety across edge cases and challenging operating conditions.
  • Contribute to the architecture and implementation of functionally safe perception systems, including software that processes data from robotic sensors.
  • Apply safety engineering principles throughout the software development lifecycle, from system design through testing and deployment.
  • Investigate reliability and safety issues, identify root causes, and implement robust solutions that improve system resilience.
  • Mentor junior engineers on safety-critical coding standards, engineering practices, and approaches to building dependable robotic software.
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines to help advance software safety practices and support the development of next-generation robotic systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, particularly in systems-level or embedded software development.
  • Strong programming skills in C++, C, Rust, or comparable systems programming languages.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture for embedded and safety-critical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop high-quality, reliable, and well-tested software for complex technical environments.
  • Experience with board bring-up, including working with early-stage hardware, running operating systems, and establishing development environments is highly desirable.
  • Experience with perception systems, including camera or LiDAR sensors and interpretation of sensor outputs, is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with formally certified safety-critical software and functional safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or ISO 13849 is highly valued.
  • Experience with ROS 2, machine learning pipelines, Linux kernel development or customization, and QNX or other real-time operating systems is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a high level of attention to quality, reliability, and safety.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across hardware, software, machine learning, and robotics teams.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States is required.
Benefits
  • Base salary range of $175,000–$274,000 USD, with final compensation determined by factors such as location, skills, experience, and market conditions.
  • 401(k) plan with a 6% company match.
