JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Administrative Director of Surgical Services, the Clinical Director assumes 24/7 responsibility for the overall clinical direction of assigned responsibility areas by leading, planning, organizing and directing assigned units. The incumbent ensures nursing care delivery and optimal patient outcomes are managed safely across the perioperative continuum of care including the preoperative, intraoperative or procedural, and postoperative phases of care. The Clinical Director ensures the patient experience and patient safety are priority aspects of care delivery. The Clinical Director defines core business quality indicators, reports quality results and ensures an environment of continuous quality care delivery thereby contributing to the overall quality plan for Surgical Services and the organization. The Clinical Director is a key contributor in motivating and engaging staff. The Clinical Director focuses on core business processes as a priority. In doing so, the Clinical Director remains visible as a leader and drives results and achieves goals through leading and delegating assignments. The Clinical Director observes processes, recognizes staff when they achieve results and promote best practices and staff competency. The Clinical Director is an active participant and leader for achieving and maintaining a high-performing team within budget.
In collaboration with key leaders, the Clinical Director helps execute cost effective and efficient throughput and operations. The Clinical Director participates in strategic and budget planning with the Administrative Director, Surgical Services leadership team, OR Committee, hospital-wide leadership retreats and through the development and implementation of organizational goals that are aligned with the strategic pillars. The Clinical Director maintains effective physician, customer and staff relations and acts as an ambassador for Blessing Hospital and Surgical Services. This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Corporate Services. ICARE standards, Magnet and Studer skills must be demonstrated. Adherence to Code of Conduct and other policies is required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training/Experience:
REQUIRED:
  • Masters in Nursing or Health Related field.
  • Demonstrated progressive relevant management experience in the perioperative arena.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to form solid physician, staff and team relations.
  • Good organization, prioritization and analytical skills.
  • Ability to provide direct patient care if required.
  • Communication skills including verbal, non-verbal and listening skills.
  • Innovative and forward thinker.
  • Demonstrated leadership role in successful redesign of patient care processes in the perioperative continuum of care.
  • Knowledgeable of perioperative professional nursing standards and practice models.
  • Knowledgeable of regulatory standards including state, federal, Joint Commission.
PREFERRED:
  • 5 years management experience in the perioperative arena.
License/Certifications/Special Requirements:
  • Required: Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse License. Current specialty certification.
  • Preferred: One of the following CNOR, ANCC or AONE Nurse Executive Certification.
