Job Description
Nurse Administrator
The Nurse Administrator position is responsible for all nursing services under the direction of the Site Director. The Nurse Administrator position also works closely with the Medical Director to coordinate and improve clinical care.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervises, evaluates, and provides leadership and coaching to nursing personnel.
• Arranges coverage for nurse absences.
• Works as an RN in a variety of capacities during staff shortages and in emergent situations.
• Assures that the delivery of nursing care complies with licensing regulations and accreditation standards.
• Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to continuously improve productivity, efficiency, recovery outcomes and medical care.
• Coordinates the relationship with outside medical and nursing support services including pharmacy and laboratory services.
• Provides Clinical Supervision to nursing staff.
• Completes clinical documentation as required.
• Understands and adheres to the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
• Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and all DWIHN policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
• Responsible for medical and medication related incident reporting, root cause analysis, and required reporting for such events on site.
• As this is an exempt role, the Nurse Manager fulfills an on-call role to provide medical support to staff working when manager is not on site.
• Responsible for pharmacy inspections, managing flow of nursing office, medication inventory, and the medical supplies inventory.
• Responsible for ensuring only trained, qualified personnel are to enter medical and medication storage locations.
• Performs other related duties assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA’S)
• Knowledge of DWIHN policies, procedures and practices.
• Knowledge of the DWIHN provider network and community resources.
• Knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code.
• Knowledge of MDHHS policies, rules, regulations and procedures.
• Knowledge of Federal policies, rules, regulations and procedures as it relates to DWIHN.
• Knowledge of comprehension of psychiatric nursing preferred.
• Knowledge of psychiatric medications and their indications, common side effects, reactions and interactions of medications prescribed.
• Knowledge and ability to work with agitated patients in crisis and their families to implement behavioral management interventions.
• Knowledge of the clinical care process (screening, assessment, treatment planning, case management and continuing care).
• Knowledge of and ability to use screening and assessment tools for behavioral health services.
• Knowledge of medical and behavioral health practices and terminology.
• Knowledge of clinical assessment principles and practices.
• Knowledge of clinical licensure in the State of Michigan.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing or equivalent experience required, Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible nursing experience
AND
• Two (2) years of behavioral health nursing
AND
• Two (2) years of management experience
REQUIRED LICENSE(S):
• A Valid State of Michigan clinical licensure: RN
• A valid State of Michigan Driver’s License with a safe and acceptable driving record.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
• An Administrator Competency Checklist must be completed as part of the new hire onboarding process.

Work is performed in a crisis care setting.
