Registration Manager
Full-Time

Role/Position Definition: Supervises Patient Access Representatives to ensure proper interviewing techniques with patient to obtain all necessary personal and financial data. Responsible for preparation and maintenance of all records of registration and other data as required. Selects and/or trains new employees. Recommends promotions, demotions, transfers or discharges of patient access office staff.
Qualifications/Position Requirements:
- Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
- Previous experience supervising admissions and/or registration functions required.
- 3+ years of experience supervising admissions and/or registration functions preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains, develops, and continually improves and updates all registration procedures with related hospital departments, medical staff and appropriate outside agencies.
- According to hospital and departmental policies, procedures and legal requirements coordinates daily work flow of personnel in the registration office and various offsite locations.
- Reviews and updates policy and procedure manual continuously. Communicates with appropriate staff when changes occur. Recommends changes and innovations in staffing, policies, and procedures as appropriate. Meets with administration to discuss or be informed of changes when necessary.
- Ensures registration management participates on hospital committees relative to their particular responsibilities.
- Schedules staff according to budget guidelines and acts as a fill-in staff member at various locations when employees have time off.
- Under direction of the Controller, oversees the training, orientation, and guidance of new employees.
- Monitors preparation of employee time cards and verifies payroll.
- Evaluates work performance of employees and makes recommendations for hiring, promotions, demotions, transfers, and other personnel actions including disciplinary action and suspension.
- Provides guidance, technical assistance, and leadership skills to the hospital and acts as a resource for employees in the use of CPSI.
- Ensures charges are entered in the patient’s account accurately in the appropriate time frame for services provided.
- Ensures authorizations are obtained for all services provided throughout the hospital.
- Ensures patient’s financial responsibility is collected at various sites throughout the hospital prior to the procedure and accurately recorded in the patient’s account.
- Ensures patient demographics are entered correctly at the various site locations for the claims to generate correctly.
- Trains and orients patient access staff and other hospital personnel, as requested, for registration input to ensure that all personnel has an understanding of the complete registration process.
- Maintains monthly statistics of hospital service lines and submits required data as requested by administration.
- Manages all activities so quality services are provided in an efficient and effective manner, as observed by the Controller. Services provided meet all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Recommends way to reduce expenditures/enhance revenues without compromising quality of services.
- Communication with staff is effective, resolving conflicts which may hamper relations and productivity, as observed by the Controller.
- Interacts with all of the above in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner, as observed by the Controller and peers.
- Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times, as observed by peers and management.
- Presents neat appearance in proper attire and identification, as required by the position, department, and hospital policy.
- Understands data and its effect on hospital operations and reimbursement.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
