Job Description

Staff Designer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Designer based in Canada.

This is a high-impact product design role focused on building and scaling a world-class design system that powers seamless digital experiences.
You will shape how design, product, and engineering teams collaborate by creating systems that improve speed, consistency, and quality.
The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, allowing you to influence both individual product experiences and broader design practices.
You will lead the evolution of design standards, accessibility practices, and reusable components across a growing platform.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will connect design decisions to measurable business outcomes and customer impact.
This opportunity is ideal for a systems-minded designer who thrives at the intersection of craft, technology, and product strategy.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the evolution and governance of the design system, including components, design tokens, patterns, documentation, and collaboration processes with engineering teams.
  • Partner closely with engineers to ensure product implementation matches design intent and contributes to scalable, high-quality user experiences.
  • Build and maintain quality standards for interaction design, accessibility, and visual consistency across the product ecosystem.
  • Conduct audits and develop processes or tools that identify gaps between design concepts and shipped experiences, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Mentor designers through structured feedback, helping strengthen problem-solving skills, design quality, and team capabilities.
  • Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to connect design decisions with key business outcomes such as adoption, retention, and growth.
  • Advocate for strong design practices and establish shared processes that enable teams to work more efficiently.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in product design, with significant experience in growth, experimentation, or outcome-driven product environments.
  • Proven ability to design, test, and launch experiences that positively impact user adoption, engagement, or business metrics.
  • Extensive experience building and managing design systems at scale, including component architecture, design tokens, and practical documentation.
  • Strong front-end understanding with the ability to read and write production-level HTML, CSS, and React to bridge the gap between design and implementation.
  • Excellent systems thinking skills, with the ability to understand how individual design decisions influence broader product patterns and outcomes.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working effectively with engineering, product, and business teams.
  • Ability to communicate design rationale clearly and create alignment across diverse stakeholders.
  • A proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and a passion for creating accessible, intuitive, and impactful user experiences.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary range of CA$140K–CA$196K, plus commission opportunities and a CA$23K bonus program.
  • Fully remote work environment with flexibility to work from anywhere in Canada.
  • Flexible paid time off program with up to 6 weeks of vacation.
  • Medical, vision, and dental benefits available from the first day of employment.
  • Enhanced mental health coverage and wellness support.
  • Inclusive parental leave top-up benefits.
  • Access to earned wage programs and real-time salary market data.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, continuous learning, and collaboration within a supportive team culture.
