Senior Systems Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Systems Engineer in Canada.

This role sits within a global financial technology environment where you will support mission-critical banking and payments systems used by leading financial institutions worldwide. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of enterprise applications running across Unix and Windows environments. Acting as a key technical expert, you will troubleshoot complex system issues, support product releases, and contribute to infrastructure reliability across distributed systems. The position combines operational support with project involvement, requiring strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. You will collaborate closely with internal engineering, infrastructure, and product teams to resolve technical challenges and improve system resilience. This is a highly hands-on role suited for professionals who enjoy deep technical problem-solving within large-scale enterprise systems.

Accountabilities:
  • Provide support for Unix and Windows-based systems, ensuring stability and optimal performance of enterprise applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across infrastructure, applications, and integrated systems within defined SLAs.
  • Support vulnerability management, system monitoring, and security remediation efforts using enterprise tools.
  • Participate in product release cycles and implementation projects to ensure smooth deployments and system readiness.
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams to ensure connectivity and integration across applications and services.
  • Manage incident tickets through the full lifecycle using IT service management tools and best practices.
  • Follow established change management processes and contribute to escalation handling and resolution.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support production systems and ensure operational continuity.
Requirements:
  • Experience supporting Unix and Windows operating systems in enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with tools such as IBM DataPower, Qualys, Grafana, Site24x7, SendGrid, and ServiceNow.
  • Strong understanding of basic networking concepts and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve moderately complex technical issues independently.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical support skills.
  • Experience working in structured IT environments with change management and incident processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and in team settings.
  • Experience in financial services or large-scale enterprise environments is an asset.
