Veterinary Nurse in Westmont, Illinois at Urban Veterinary Associates

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dependable Veterinary Nurse to join our team. This position supports veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care while helping ensure pets and their owners have a positive, comfortable experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
• Collect patient histories and accurately document medical records
• Perform blood draws, place IV catheters, and collect diagnostic samples
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
• Monitor hospitalized and surgical patients
• Perform Dental Prophylaxis nd Full Mouth Radiographs for anesthetized patients
• Assist with anesthesia, surgery preparation, and patient recovery
• Perform laboratory testing and obtain diagnostic images when trained
• Educate clients about medications, preventive care, and at-home instructions
• Maintain clean, organized treatment areas
• Provide gentle, low-stress handling and compassionate patient care

• Veterinary nursing or veterinary assistant experience preferred
• CVT, RVT, or LVT credential preferred but not required
• Strong animal-handling and patient-restraint skills
• Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable discussing patient care and instructions with pet owners
• Ability to lift approximately 40–50 pounds and remain active throughout the workday
• Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and follow established medical protocols
• Dependable attendance and a genuine commitment to exceptional patient care
