Job Description


POSITION OVERVIEW
Diagnoses, and performs repairs and preventative maintenance services upon a variety of saws and shearing equipment in all California Locations. Plans and executes preventative maintenance schedules and works closely with branch leaders to ensure that maintenance is timely and effective. Consults on the selection and purchase of replacement equipment. Ensures the emergency situations are addressed professionally
and with appropriate urgency. Provides excellent customer service. Performs related duties as required.

This is a part-time position with no medical benefits

SCHEDULE:

· Monday through Thursday

· 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

· One-hour unpaid lunch break



RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
With Little or No Supervision and Direction:
• Diagnoses, repairs, and executes preventative maintenance needs and requirements for and processing equipment.
• Maintains Class “C” motor vehicles.
• Performs weekly inspection and monthly engine start tests of the Company’s emergency generator substantiating its state of readiness.
• Conducts semi-annual and annual inspection of cranes.
• Proactively maintains an appropriate inventory of spare parts, lubricants and other supplies related to the repair of vehicles and equipment.
• Creates and maintains current maintenance and expenditure records for each piece of equipment repaired and maintained by the Company.
• Informs the Warehouse Manager or Branch General Manager of all expenditures over $1,000.00.
• Relays all maintenance situations that negatively affect overall customer service and Company productivity to branch supervisors.
• Communicates and coordinates with vendors, such as parts suppliers, to ensure that equipment is properly maintained and repaired in a timely manner, with the goal of reducing down time.
• Maintains good housekeeping in and around all repair areas and related work areas including tidying up after each job always working with cleanliness and safety in mind.
• Drives on company business.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES
The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual requires in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location.
• Exercising independent judgment and decision making based on standard policy or procedures.
• Strong customer, quality and results orientation.
• Knowledge of the methods, equipment, materials, and tools used in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of light and heavy gasoline, diesel powered vehicles, and electrically powered equipment.
• Knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B30.2 standards for crane operation.
• Exercising independent judgement and decision making based on standard policy or working procedures.
• Strong detail orientation and understanding of safe work processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer software.
• Practice good housekeeping of the work area(s).
SKILLS
• Efficiently and effectively diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on processing equipment.
• Excellent verbal, non-verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Driving Company vehicles and/or equipment courteously, in compliance with all vehicle laws and regulation, and above all, with safety always in mind.
• Operating applicable vehicles and loading machinery to include forklifts, side loaders, scissor lifts and overhead cranes.
• Properly operates basic measuring tools, including calipers, a micrometer, and tape measures, converting metric and English measurements when required.
• Safely operating power equipment to include a variety of saws and shears.
• Proficiency in operating modern desktop computers, related software, and related modern office equipment.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite computer software.
• Proficiency in utilizing IMS business systems.

ABILITIES
• Performing a variety of mechanical repairs.
• Inspecting and diagnosing mechanical issues and determining appropriate maintenance requirements.
• Performing periodic inspections of overhead cranes.
• Preparing and maintaining records and reports, both manually and electronically.
• Analyzing problems and develops appropriate solutions.
• Organizing workload for maximum effectiveness.
• Taking ownership of, and focusing on critical initiatives.
• Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisors, and fellow associates.
• Being an effective team member.
• Recognizing and embracing change as the external environment and organization evolves.
