JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant will support our finance team by managing daily accounting tasks, facilitating a smooth monthly financial close, and quarterly / annual compliance reporting. You will be part of a team working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- General Ledger & Journal Entries: Assist with the month-end close process by preparing journal entries and maintaining accurate records and reports. Ensure invoices are accurately coded by location and department, ensuring compliance with internal policies and budget allocations.
- Account Reconciliations: Perform bank and account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- Accounts Receivable: Analyze monthly AR reports and determine appropriateness for allowance for doubtful accounts.
- Accounts Payable: Analyze monthly AP reports and partner with AP team to ensure that expense accruals, prepaid expenses, and corporate credit card transactions are appropriately recorded.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with GAAP principles and company’s internal policies. Maintain accounting schedules aligned to current ASC principles for lease accounting, inventory reserves, etc.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other finance team members to identify and resolve discrepancies ahead of management month-end results reviews.
- Process: Assist in development and implementation of new technologies, procedures, and features to enhance workflow, updating business standard work and process flow documents as necessary.
- Support audit preparation and coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors where necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLS
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and other business tools
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related fields; with 5 years of related experience
