Job Title: Foster Care Supervisor

Department: Foster Care

Status: Full-Time, exempt

Reports To: Associate Executive Director of Child Welfare

Compensation Starting Pay: $69,472 annually

PURPOSE: The Foster Care Supervisor provides supervision to the Foster Care Case Managers. This position assists Case Managers with problem solving and provides them with the supervisory support needed to succeed in their position. They will collaborate with DCFS to provide appropriate casework services to individuals and families in the Foster Care Program.

Key responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Provides direct supervision, training, support, review, and evaluation for foster care case managers and other assigned staff.
  • Directs those supervised in the assignment of cases and work schedules.
  • Ensures case documentation meets agency, DCFS, and COA requirements.
  • Reviews documentation and approves assessments and service plans completed by the Foster Care Case Manager.
  • Attends court hearings, case reviews, staffing, and meetings, as needed
  • Leads Foster Care Case Managers in moving cases towards permanency
  • Provides support to Foster Care Case Manager to help succeed in their position.
  • Collaborates and implements Child and Family Team Meetings.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/PREFERRED

  • Degree/Field Required: Master's degree in Human Service (Related fields will be considered.)
  • Degree/Field Preferred: N/A (Related fields will be considered.)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2+years of relevant experience (For positions that manage staff, the years specified need to be progressive years of management experience. For all positions, the years required can be interchanged with equivalent experience from an advanced degree related to this job and/or with other relevant experience verified by applicant/incumbent).
  • Licenses/Certifications Required: Child Welfare License
  • Licenses/Certifications Preferred: Child Welfare License

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Trauma-informed: Must display a willingness to adopt trauma informed interventions, principles, and practices as well as commitment to ongoing development of their capacity for application of trauma informed care. Realizes the prevalence of trauma among persons served by Caritas and the general population. Recognizes how trauma affects everyone involved-including clients, their families, staff, and community; and impacts behaviors. Responds to trauma by actively implementing the guiding principles of trauma informed care into their daily practice. Resists re-traumatization of persons served and staff providing services, by creating safe, welcoming, and supportive environments.

VEHICLE RELATED REQUIREMENTS:

Access to reliable transportation to get to/from work: Required.

Access to a reliable automobile: Required.
