Position Description:

WORK ENVIRONMENT: CCRC, primarily indoor with occasional off-site excursions and outside activities
WORK PACE: Self-paced, often demanding
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Model a service and solutions-oriented attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to make things better, is friendly and courteous to residents, patients, visitors, and co-workers Ensure resident, patient, visitor, and co-worker safety by remaining aware of and reporting any new or existing safety hazards Maintain good attendance record Responsible for the planning and administration of the departmental budget Visit residents upon admission to introduce self and the pastoral services available Provide spiritual guidance and counseling to residents, families, and staff Respond to after-hours calls if necessary. Set up backup system for support Lead funeral/memorial services if requested Develop and lead pastoral programs based on individual and organizational needs Initiate and maintain communication with churches who have congregational members at the campus through notification of admission, discharge, transfer, or death of resident member Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Resident Services or Executive Director
Worship: Lead in preaching and worship for regularly scheduled worship services throughout The Outlook at Windhaven Oversight and coordination of special worship services throughout the year. Coordinate and lead an annual Service of Remembrance for residents who have died in the last year. Coordinate and lead Celebration of Life Services as needed.
Pastoral Care: Is available to provide spiritual guidance to residents and families. When appropriate may develop and/or lead programs to support residents and families. Making regular visits to residents throughout The Outlook at Windhaven Advocating for and maintaining contact with residents when they are hospitalized as well as following up on hospital stays. Is available to provide pastoral care for teammates as needed or requested.
Other Activities: Lead and/or develop Bible studies and discussion groups which center on faith issues or other topics of interest. Activities will take into account the diversity of religious backgrounds represented among the residents.
Church and Community Involvement: Will develop relationships with local clergy as well as maintaining communication with churches about the pastoral needs of their members. When invited by local pastor, will participate in funeral services for residents. Will maintain active ministerial status in his/her denomination and serve as a spokesperson for The Outlook at Windhaven in the boarder church when appropriate. Will help to initiate relationships in the community across generations, denominations, cultures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of college and seminary Minimum of five years chaplain or pastoral experience preferred. Experience working with elderly a plus Skilled in counseling and preaching Ability to conduct worship services Ability to relate to persons in various physical, mental, or emotional conditions Ability to relate to persons with varying ethnic and religious backgrounds Ability to perform Essential Duties as outlined below Genuine caring for and interest in the care of mature adults, handicapped people and hospice Patients Ability to perform work tasks within the Physical Demand Requirements as outlined below Ability to comply with the Resident Bill of Rights and the Employee Responsibilities Ability to comply with organizational and departmental safety policies and procedures
