Bogle Family Wine Collection (BFWC) is located in the heart of the AVA of Clarksburg, California, and is run by the sixth generation of Bogles, who live and work in the Sacramento Delta region. POSITION SUMMARY:

BFWC is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to serve as the lead finance and accounting professional for our family-owned business. This is a newly created role, designed to strengthen financial leadership as the organization continues to grow and evolve. Reporting directly to the family owners and partnering closely with the leadership team, the Director of Finance will play a key role in building structure, enhancing financial planning and controls, and providing forward-looking insight to support long-term business success.

This role blends strategic financial leadership with hands-on execution, overseeing accounting operations, budgeting and forecasting, tax coordination, risk management, and financial systems. The ideal candidate is comfortable working close to the details while exercising sound judgment and perspective to support high-quality decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Leadership & Planning

  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the family owners and leadership team
  • Lead annual and multi-year budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Translate business objectives into clear financial assumptions, forecasts, and performance metrics
  • Provide insightful analysis to support strategic initiatives and operational decisions

Accounting, Controls & Compliance

  • Oversee general accounting, month-end and year-end close processes
  • Ensure accurate, timely financial statements and compliance with applicable regulations
  • Design and maintain strong internal controls and financial policies
  • Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with auditors and advisors

Tax, Risk & Governance

  • Coordinate corporate tax planning, compliance filings, and payments with external tax advisors
  • Review and advise on California Pass-Through Entity (PTE) tax payments
  • Identify financial and operational risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Oversee insurance programs and review contracts for financial and risk implications

Systems & Infrastructure

  • Oversee financial systems and reporting processes, including Microsoft Business Central
  • Partner with IT and operational leaders to improve data integrity, reporting, and scalability
  • Strengthen documentation, governance, and consistency across finance operations

Team & Relationship Management

  • Lead, develop, and mentor the Accounting/Finance team
  • Align team structure and capabilities with business needs
  • Manage relationships with banks, tax advisors, auditors, and consultants

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, including senior-level leadership
  • Strong expertise in accounting, financial planning, controls, and financial systems
  • Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • High judgment, discretion, and ability to work closely with owners and senior leaders

Preferred

  • CPA and/or MBA
  • Experience in a family-owned or closely held business
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central or similar ERP systems

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • On-site office role based in Clarksburg, CA
  • Occasional travel between local facilities or meetings in the greater Sacramento area

COMPENSATION:

$180,000 - $200,000/yr

Individual offers are made contingent upon a candidate's prior experience and education level as they relate to the role. Job offers are contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment screenings, which include a standard 8-panel drug test and a comprehensive background check.
