Position Summary
The Director of Quality is responsible for leading all quality functions of the tooling business unit – ensuring products and processes consistently meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Supplier Quality, and Quality Systems while partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
The Director of Quality manages the business unit quality team including quality technicians, engineers, and specialists, and serves as the quality leader and management representative of the tooling business unit.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Leadership & Accountability
- Lead all site quality activities, including Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Supplier Quality, and Quality Engineering
- Develop and execute the site's quality strategy aligned with corporate objectives
- Build a culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement and integrate quality into site-level business strategy
- Lead and develop site quality leadership and teams
- Drive organizational design, resource planning, and succession development
- Serve as the business units primary quality representative with customers and regulatory agencies
- Owns all business unit quality functions, including:
- Product quality and acceptance
- Customer quality performance and response
- Supplier quality performance
- Quality assurance and inspection systems
- Provide leadership on risk-based decision-making and trade-offs between quality, delivery, and cost
- Identify and manage complex, high-risk quality issues
- Establish containment and corrective action strategies
- Lead structured quality risk identification and analysis, including risks related to suppliers, processes, and product conformity
Quality Management System (QMS)
- Maintain and continuously improve the business units Quality Management System
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards such as ISO 9001as applicable
- Lead internal and customer audits
- Ensure alignment with AGSE QMS and enterprise strategy
- Identify gaps between system intent and execution
- Provide structured feedback and improvement plans to improve system effectiveness
- Ensure timely completion of corrective and preventive actions
- Ensure readiness for ISO, customer, and regulatory audits
- Oversee audit response and closure
- Drive alignment and hold cross-functional leadership accountable across Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering
Customer Quality Leadership
- Serve as senior business unit representative for escalations and performance reviews
- Lead customer quality communications and issue resolution
- Oversee customer complaints, escapes, and corrective actions
- Improve customer satisfaction through proactive quality initiatives
Metrics & Performance Management
- Define, monitor, and drive accountability to business unit level quality metrics, ensuring alignment with company and customer requirements
- Provide insights to executive leadership
- Drive accountability through structured action plans
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered
- 15+ years of progressive quality experience
- 7+ years of quality leadership experience, including responsibility for team leadership, quality performance, and cross-functional influence
- Aerospace or engineered products experience
- Experience supporting aerospace tooling, ground support equipment, or complex engineered assemblies is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience leading quality in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments
- Experience engaging with customers and suppliers at a senior leadership level
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 / AS9100
- Demonstrated success in customer-facing leadership and complex problem-solving

Work EnvironmentThis role is based on-site in Cincinnati, Ohio. Domestic and international travel is required to support supplier audits, customer visits, quality investigations, and strategic quality initiatives. You'll work closely with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and customers in a dynamic, high-mix aerospace manufacturing environment. This role supports a high-mix aerospace manufacturing operation in Cincinnati, Ohio, focused on complex assemblies and customer-specific configurations. The position will require direct engagement with customers and suppliers, including participation in audits, escalations, and quality investigations. Domestic and international travel will be required to support supplier audits, customer visits, and critical quality initiatives. The role will operate in an environment where quality performance is tightly coupled to delivery commitments, customer expectations, and operational execution. Visits to manufacturing or warehouse areas may be required. This role deals with international customers and vendors, and off hours may be required at times. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
