Applications Specialist/Drafter

Summary:
The primary responsibility of this role is to serve as a technical resource for both the inside and field salesforce in preparing client submittal drawings for order review and customer approval.
The Applications Specialist will use computer-aided design (CAD) software to complete drafting assignments and create detailed schematics that are utilized in the manufacturing of products. Provide accurate drawings based on the system selection, location, manufacturing requirements, and customer’s needs. You will work with the Sales and Quotations teams as one of the key technical advisors and product advocates.
The Applications Specialist must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.
Examples of Duties:
- Provide reliable solutions for unique applications required for site specific customer needs.
- Prepare detailed customer submittal drawings.
- Function as a liaison between sales, the customer, engineering, and quality.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of target accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts, and correspondence in company approved databases.
- Provide design, drawing, and specification development to support sales and end users.
- Respond to technical elements of RFP (request for proposal). Must be able to read and interpret complex RFP’s and drawings.
- Assume responsibility for projects as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Possess excellent communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Considerable knowledge of/or the ability to retain an understanding of walk-in panel construction.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong organization skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to be adaptable to design changes and to interpret Sales Personnel requests.
Minimum Requirements:
- A two-year technical degree in mechanical engineering or engineering design or equivalent work experience plus education is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in drafting and design, such as product or machine design is required.
- Auto CAD and SolidWorks experience.
