This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an ACS WEB Senior Software Developer SME/Software Engineer based in the United States.
This is a senior-level remote opportunity supporting complex federal software development and modernization initiatives.
The role combines hands-on full-stack engineering with technical leadership and subject matter expertise.
You will contribute to the maintenance, optimization, and enhancement of mission-critical web applications.
Working across development, QA, cybersecurity, and project leadership teams, you will help drive technical execution and resolve complex challenges.
The position offers an opportunity to work with modern Java and web technologies alongside established enterprise platforms and open-source components.
You will also contribute to DevOps, CI/CD, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement.
Success in this role requires strong technical depth, adaptability, and the ability to quickly understand and improve custom-built applications.
- Serve as a Senior Software Development SME, providing technical guidance while remaining actively involved in software development and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities.
- Lead and support day-to-day developer activities in collaboration with the Project Manager, Technical Lead, Cybersecurity SME, and QA team.
- Develop, enhance, optimize, and maintain full-stack web applications using Java, J2EE/JEE, JavaScript frameworks, Spring Boot, JSF, PrimeFaces, and related technologies.
- Support the transition to and development of Single Page Applications (SPA), contributing to modern and scalable web architectures.
- Analyze requirements, estimate level of effort, develop technical solutions, create screen mockups, and implement approved software changes.
- Conduct unit testing, peer reviews, code check-in/check-out activities, defect identification and resolution, and troubleshooting of development and production environments.
- Work with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, enterprise containers, incident management, and related development tools.
- Investigate application, server, networking, and environment configuration issues and assist with resolving technical problems.
- Develop and maintain system design specifications, software user guides, process documentation, diagrams, and other technical materials.
- Facilitate developer technical meetings, prioritize work, communicate issues and proposed solutions, and keep project and task leadership informed of progress.
- Identify opportunities to improve development processes, application performance, maintainability, and overall engineering efficiency.
- Quickly integrate into existing technical teams and become highly knowledgeable about custom-built applications and their open-source components.
- Active Public Trust / Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance is required.
- 15+ years of software/web development, engineering, or optimization experience, with strong expertise in Object-Oriented Programming and full-stack J2EE development.
- Advanced hands-on experience with Java 17/21, JEE, Spring Boot, JavaScript, AngularJS, React, Preact, JSF, PrimeFaces, jQuery, JavaBeans, or equivalent technologies.
- Demonstrated experience transitioning to or working with Single Page Applications (SPA).
- Experience with enterprise development environments and technologies such as Eclipse, Visual Studio, JBoss/Red Hat Linux, zLinux, Tomcat, HTML5, UML, .NET, Visual Basic, IBM Liberty, Rocket Verastream Bridge Integrator (VBI), and iText or comparable tools.
- Strong hands-on experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, incident tracking/management, and enterprise container platforms or equivalent technologies.
- Proven ability to perform requirements analysis, level-of-effort estimation, unit testing, peer reviews, defect resolution, troubleshooting, networking and environment configuration.
- Experience producing technical documentation, including system design specifications, user guides, process documentation, and technical diagrams.
- Ability to quickly understand complex, custom-built software applications and work effectively with common open-source components.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline focused on software development/engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.
- Preferred experience with GitHub repositories, JIRA, Eclipse 2022+, ServiceNow, Selenium test development, enterprise software development lifecycle frameworks, security regulations, system development standards, and Section 508 compliance.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals, development environments, change-control processes, and web interfaces to mainframes is advantageous.
- Software development, security, networking, or systems administration certifications are a plus.
