Job Description

Member of Technical Staff

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Member of Technical Staff based in the United States.

This is an early-stage engineering opportunity for a highly autonomous builder who wants meaningful influence over both product and technology.
You will contribute across the full web application stack, turning complex security and open-source workflows into intuitive user experiences.
The role combines hands-on software development with API design, data integration, and product decision-making.
You will work closely with engineering and design to ship customer-focused features quickly and iterate based on real user feedback.
As an early team member, you will also help establish technical foundations, development practices, and the culture that will shape future growth.
The environment rewards ownership, rigorous thinking, urgency, and the ability to learn new technologies without being tied to a particular stack.
This is an ideal role for a versatile engineer who enjoys building from zero to one and wants their work to have immediate, visible impact.

Accountabilities:
  • Contribute end-to-end to the development of a production web application, from technical design through implementation and delivery.
  • Build polished interfaces in partnership with designers, simplifying complex technical and security concepts into intuitive user experiences.
  • Design and develop APIs that aggregate and deliver data from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Integrate third-party APIs and build reliable processes for extracting, transforming, and presenting external data.
  • Work closely with the engineering and design teams to prioritize product improvements and translate customer feedback into actionable development plans.
  • Help shape the product roadmap and plan focused, agile sprints that enable rapid feature delivery and iteration.
  • Establish and improve foundational engineering frameworks, systems, and development practices that support the team as it scales.
  • Contribute to technical and architectural decisions while maintaining a strong focus on performance, reliability, usability, and maintainability.
  • Participate actively in hiring by interviewing candidates and providing thoughtful input on team growth and technical talent.
  • Help foster a high-ownership engineering culture centered on quality, customer needs, rigorous reasoning, constructive feedback, and fast execution.
Requirements
  • Experience working on early-stage or 0-to-1 teams, ideally in an environment where you helped establish foundational systems and practices.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing production-grade web applications.
  • Strong experience building and integrating APIs and working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • Proficiency with Node.js, JavaScript, React, and TypeScript.
  • Ability to learn and adopt unfamiliar technologies quickly rather than being dependent on a specific technology stack.
  • Strong product instincts and an ability to balance technical considerations with customer needs and business priorities.
  • Comfortable operating with significant autonomy, making decisions quickly, and taking ownership beyond narrowly defined responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working across engineering and design.
  • A rigorous, first-principles approach to problem solving and the confidence to challenge assumptions constructively.
  • Preferred: experience with GraphQL, Elasticsearch, headless browsers, data pipelines, or similar technologies.
  • A customer-focused mindset, strong attention to quality, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment.
Benefits
  • Market-competitive salary bands, with leveling and compensation aligned dynamically to technical scope and experience throughout the interview process.
  • Meaningful equity program providing an opportunity to share in long-term company success.
  • Comprehensive health benefits for employees and their families, with approximately 99% coverage.
  • Flexible time off and holidays designed to support sustainable performance and personal wellbeing.
  • Winter shutdown to provide dedicated time to rest and recharge.
  • Paid parental leave to support growing families.
  • Remote-first work environment with quarterly team off-sites for collaboration and connection.
  • Opportunity to work as an early team member with substantial influence over product direction, engineering foundations, and team culture.
  • A high-ownership environment that values excellence, urgency, rigorous thinking, trust, autonomy, and customer obsession.
