This role is a high-impact opportunity for a commercially minded BD professional with experience in legal or professional services environments.
You will work closely with senior partners and leadership to design, execute, and optimize business development strategies that strengthen client relationships and drive firm growth.
The position combines strategic planning with hands-on execution, requiring someone who can both shape BD initiatives and deliver tangible outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
You will play a key role in managing client targeting, pitch development, CRM oversight, and marketing initiatives across multiple practice areas.
The role is highly collaborative, involving regular interaction with senior legal professionals and cross-functional marketing and communications teams.
You will also contribute to modernizing BD practices through data, process improvement, and the effective use of AI tools.
This is a remote position aligned with US Eastern Time, offering autonomy, visibility, and direct impact on firm expansion.
- Collaborate closely with senior partners and the Head of Business Development to develop, execute, and monitor strategic BD plans, ensuring accountability and timely delivery of initiatives.
- Manage and maintain the firm’s CRM system, ensuring accurate tracking of contacts, pipeline activity, deal credentials, and business development progress.
- Develop and continuously update credentials, capability statements, and pitch materials to support client proposals, RFPs, and presentations.
- Conduct market and client research to identify new opportunities, target accounts, and referral sources, proactively providing insights to partners.
- Coordinate and support all BD-related initiatives, including events, conferences, sponsorships, and speaking engagements.
- Assist in the creation of marketing and thought leadership materials, including presentations, firm communications, and practice group content.
- Proven experience in a Business Development role within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of legal industry dynamics, partner-led organizations, and client development processes.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage and execute BD initiatives at a manager level, not only in a support capacity.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to track multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce polished client-facing materials.
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth or evolving BD environments with limited structure.
- Proficiency in tools such as PowerPoint and Word for producing professional-quality pitch and marketing materials.
- Experience maintaining CRM systems and credentials databases is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools to enhance research, content creation, or BD workflows is a strong advantage.
- Ability to work independently while aligning closely with senior stakeholders across different time zones (US Eastern Time).
- Fully remote independent contractor arrangement with flexibility in work location.
- Opportunity to work directly with senior legal professionals on high-value client development initiatives.
- Exposure to complex, high-profile corporate and executive legal work across multiple practice areas.
- High autonomy and ownership over business development processes and execution.
- Opportunity to contribute to the growth of a fast-evolving, modern legal practice.
- Dynamic, fast-paced environment with strong emphasis on impact and results.
- Ability to work with advanced tools and AI-enabled workflows in business development.
