About Kinetic Games

We’re an independent games studio best known for creating Phasmophobia, enjoyed by millions of players worldwide. Our team is passionate, creative, and collaborative and we’re looking for someone equally enthusiastic about games to join our growing team.

We’re a small but fast growing, friendly team that values creativity, openness, and personal growth. Whether you’re helping various departments or talking about your favourite horror game, you’ll be part of a supportive environment where passion and curiosity are celebrated. You’ll be joining a small but ambitious team where your ideas are valued, your growth is supported, and your development truly matters.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are important to how we work together every day. We aim to build a team with diverse experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds. We believe great games start with an inclusive environment where everyone can contribute, grow, and succeed. Applications from all qualified candidates are encouraged. Equal opportunities are provided throughout our recruitment and employment practices.

If you require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know. We'll work with you to understand your needs and provide appropriate support wherever reasonably practicable.

About the role:

We're looking for a passionate and proactive Community Manager to help strengthen the relationship between our players, creators and the teams behind our games. Working across both Kinetic Games and Kinetic Publishing, you'll play a key role in managing our social media channels, engaging with our communities, and helping shape how we communicate with players throughout the lifecycle of our titles. You'll create engaging content, monitor community sentiment, and work closely with development teams to ensure player feedback is understood and represented internally.

Reporting to the Lead Social Media & Player Experience Manager, you'll be part of the Marketing team, led by the Director of Marketing & Partnerships. You'll collaborate with developers, marketing colleagues, publishing partners and external agencies, helping to deliver consistent, authentic and engaging communications across multiple projects.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in community management and social media who is looking to take the next step in their career within an ambitious and fast-growing games studio.

Due to the nature of the role, it will be based remotely with occasional travel to our office in Southampton for meetings. At this time, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing day-to-day activity across Kinetic Games' and Kinetic Publishing's social media channels.
  • Building, nurturing and engaging our player communities across platforms including Discord, Reddit, Steam, TikTok, X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and other relevant channels.
  • Creating and scheduling engaging social media content that aligns with marketing campaigns, game updates and community initiatives.
  • Acting as the voice of the studio by communicating with players in a friendly, authentic and professional manner.
  • Monitoring community sentiment, identifying trends and player feedback, and sharing actionable insights with internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting marketing campaigns, announcements, game launches and live service communications across both Kinetic Games and publishing partners.
  • Working closely with developers to understand upcoming features, updates and priorities, helping translate complex information into player-friendly messaging.
  • Collaborating with designers, artists, video editors and external agencies to produce engaging social and community content.
  • Helping manage relationships with external agencies and ensuring deliverables are completed to a high standard.
  • Supporting community events including livestreams, AMAs, creator initiatives and Discord activities where appropriate.
  • Assisting with crisis communications and helping ensure messaging remains clear, timely and consistent during sensitive situations.
  • Monitoring social media performance and community engagement metrics, using insights to continually improve content and strategy.
  • Staying up to date with social media trends, emerging platforms and best practices within the games industry.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a Community Manager, Social Media Manager or similar role, ideally within the games industry.
  • Strong understanding of community management across Discord, Reddit, Steam and major social media platforms.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences and platforms.
  • Experience creating engaging social media content and working with content calendars.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across different projects.
  • Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams including developers, artists, producers and marketers.
  • Experience working with, coordinating or managing external agencies or creative partners.
  • Ability to analyse community feedback and social performance data to inform future activity.
  • Passion for video games and a genuine understanding of gaming communities and online culture.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset with excellent attention to detail.

Nice To Haves:

  • Experience working on live service games and supporting ongoing player communities.
  • Familiarity with social media management and analytics tools such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Buffer or similar platforms.
  • Experience using Discord moderation tools and community management platforms.
  • Experience working with moderation and admin teams on community-driven channels such as Discord and Reddit.
  • Basic image editing or video editing skills using tools such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro or Canva.
  • Experience supporting influencer or creator campaigns.
