SAP HAZMAT Functional Resource

The Opportunity

This role works directly with U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) stakeholders, functional teams, technical teams, business process owners, customer representatives, and government and contractor leadership supporting the Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS). It is an opportunity to apply hazardous material and Dangerous Goods functional expertise to ensure regulated material requirements are accurately represented within SAP and integrated across the logistics and supply chain processes that support mission execution.

Work is primarily performed on-site at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, supporting a large-scale SAP S/4HANA implementation in a dynamic, mission-focused environment. This position requires an active Secret security clearance. Candidates who do not currently hold a Secret clearance may be considered for company-sponsored processing, contingent upon contract requirements and client approval.

Position Summary

C5T is seeking an SAP HAZMAT Functional Resource to support the Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS) SAP S/4HANA program by providing functional expertise for the management, configuration, integration, and sustainment of hazardous material (HAZMAT) processes within the SAP environment.

This position serves as a member of an integrated, cross-functional team responsible for translating hazardous material and regulatory requirements into SAP functional requirements and system solutions, and for ensuring those requirements are carried through material movement, shipping, receiving, warehousing, and transportation workflows.

Location: Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Work will primarily take place in government workspaces based on mission requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a functional subject matter expert for SAP HAZMAT and Dangerous Goods business processes within the SAP S/4HANA environment.
  • Analyze customer and program requirements related to hazardous material identification, classification, storage, handling, movement, transportation, and reporting.
  • Support configuration and functional design of SAP capabilities used to manage hazardous and regulated materials.
  • Maintain and validate HAZMAT-related master data, classifications, attributes, and regulatory information associated with materials.
  • Support integration of HAZMAT requirements across SAP functional areas, including Materials Management (MM), Transportation Management (TM), Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), Sales and Distribution (SD), and other applicable logistics processes.
  • Support Dangerous Goods Management processes associated with the transportation and shipment of regulated materials.
  • Ensure HAZMAT requirements are appropriately incorporated into material movement, shipping, receiving, warehousing, and transportation workflows.
  • Collaborate with business process owners and functional subject matter experts to translate operational and regulatory requirements into SAP functional requirements and system solutions.
  • Develop functional specifications, process flows, configuration documentation, business requirements, and system design documentation.
  • Identify functional gaps and recommend SAP-standard solutions, configuration changes, enhancements, or process improvements.
  • Support data migration, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation activities associated with hazardous material data.
  • Participate in system integration testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing, and defect resolution.
  • Develop test scenarios and validate end-to-end HAZMAT processes across integrated SAP modules.
  • Troubleshoot functional issues and coordinate with technical development, integration, security, and infrastructure teams to resolve system defects.
  • Support compliance with applicable federal, Department of Defense, transportation, environmental, and hazardous material regulations and policies.
  • Assist with development of standard operating procedures, training materials, job aids, and end-user documentation.
  • Participate in workshops, design sessions, demonstrations, and customer working groups supporting implementation and continuous improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Secret security clearance and continued eligibility for access to classified information. Candidates who do not currently hold a Secret clearance may be considered for company-sponsored processing, contingent upon contract requirements and client approval.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, logistics, supply chain management, engineering, or a related field. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Experience supporting SAP functional implementations, sustainment, or modernization efforts.
  • Functional knowledge of hazardous materials, Dangerous Goods, regulated materials, or environmental health and safety processes within SAP.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA or related SAP logistics capabilities.
  • Understanding of material master data and its relationship to logistics, warehousing, transportation, and supply chain processes.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating requirements into SAP functional designs and system configurations.
  • Experience supporting functional testing, defect management, and system implementation activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to troubleshoot complex cross-functional SAP processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop clear functional and technical documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with functional, technical, business, and customer stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, operationally focused, and time-sensitive environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA Dangerous Goods Management or SAP Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) capabilities.
  • Experience integrating HAZMAT processes with SAP TM, MM, EWM, SD, or other logistics modules.
  • Knowledge of hazardous material classification, labeling, packaging, storage, shipping, and transportation requirements.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing hazardous materials and Dangerous Goods transportation.
  • Experience supporting SAP data migration or master data management activities involving regulated materials.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, USTRANSCOM, federal logistics, or other large-scale government SAP programs.
  • Experience working within Agile, Scrum, or scaled Agile delivery environments.
  • SAP certification in a relevant functional area.
  • Working knowledge of several of the following: SAP S/4HANA; SAP Dangerous Goods Management; SAP EHS and Product Compliance; SAP Materials Management (MM); SAP Transportation Management (TM); SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM); SAP Sales and Distribution (SD); material master and HAZMAT master data; Dangerous Goods classification and determination; transportation and shipment documentation; HAZMAT labeling and regulatory information; data migration and validation; SAP functional configuration; functional and integration testing; and requirements analysis and process documentation.
  • Demonstrated facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder coordination skills.
