Director, Data Strategy & Services

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Data Strategy & Services based in United States.

The Director, Data Strategy & Services will lead enterprise-wide data initiatives, shaping how organizations leverage architecture, analytics, integrations, and insights to drive measurable outcomes.
This strategic leadership role will define scalable data practices, oversee complex migration programs, and enable data-driven decision-making across multiple product areas.
The position combines technical expertise, business strategy, and client-facing consulting to deliver impactful data solutions.
The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Sales, and Client Success to build modern data capabilities.

Accountabilities:

The Director, Data Strategy & Services will own the vision, execution, and continuous improvement of enterprise data capabilities while leading strategic initiatives that transform data into actionable business value. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and evolve enterprise data architecture strategies that support scalable analytics, integrations, and product growth.
  • Establish data standards, governance practices, and repeatable frameworks for data ingestion, transformation, management, and consumption.
  • Align data roadmaps with business objectives, product strategies, engineering priorities, and customer analytics needs.
  • Lead complex data migration initiatives, including scope definition, data mapping, transformation planning, validation processes, testing cycles, and production deployment.
  • Oversee ETL activities, resolve technical challenges, manage remediation efforts, and ensure successful migration outcomes.
  • Assess data readiness, improve data quality, and develop analytics solutions that enable customers and internal teams to make informed decisions.
  • Translate business requirements into custom reporting, dashboards, analytics frameworks, and actionable insights.
  • Support the development and commercialization of analytics services, AI-enabled offerings, and premium data solutions.
  • Define integration strategies with third-party platforms and contribute to the evolution of AI-powered capabilities.
  • Build data operating models, documentation standards, technical playbooks, and governance frameworks to support long-term scalability.
  • Maintain continuity with strategic accounts by supporting requirements gathering, risk management, stakeholder alignment, and transition activities.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Client Success teams to deliver consistent, high-quality data experiences.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience leading data strategy, architecture, analytics, and transformation initiatives, with the ability to combine technical depth with executive-level communication. Qualifications include:

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in data architecture, enterprise analytics, business intelligence, or data strategy roles.
  • Proven experience designing and executing complex enterprise data migrations and software integration initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of modern data architectures, ETL processes, BI platforms, cloud environments, and analytics solutions.
  • Experience developing data governance frameworks, operational models, and scalable data management practices.
  • Background in client-facing consulting, professional services, or premium analytics solution delivery is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related technical discipline.
  • Data management or governance certifications such as DAMA-CDMP are a plus.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success teams.
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business recommendations.
  • Experience with AI-enabled technologies, advanced analytics applications, and emerging data capabilities is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
