This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Government Sales Manager - State and Local Government and Education (SLED) based in United States.
This is a senior sales leadership opportunity focused on expanding technology solutions across State and Local Government and Education organizations. You will lead sales and support activities, manage a team of Account Executives, and drive growth across a strategically important public-sector market. The role combines people leadership, complex solution selling, pipeline management, and accountability for revenue and business objectives. You will set sales goals, allocate resources, coach team members, and develop strategies that strengthen customer relationships and market presence. Success requires a results-oriented leader who can navigate complex sales cycles while building a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous improvement. The position offers the opportunity to influence both business growth and the development of a high-performing government sales organization.
- Lead and manage sales and sales-support activities for a team of Account Executives and other sales professionals serving State and Local Government and Education customers.
- Develop and execute sales growth plans and activities aligned with revenue targets and broader business objectives.
- Establish appropriate sales goals, assignments, priorities, and performance expectations for team members.
- Optimize the utilization of people, budgets, and other resources to maximize sales performance and achieve organizational objectives.
- Own accountability for achieving total software revenue targets and assigned management business objectives.
- Coach and develop sales professionals by identifying opportunities to strengthen selling techniques, providing timely feedback, and delivering targeted guidance.
- Monitor sales performance using appropriate metrics and measurement methods, taking action to address gaps and accelerate results.
- Support complex solution-selling opportunities from qualification through negotiation and close, helping the team successfully manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government and education customers, stakeholders, and decision-makers.
- Provide leadership throughout complex sales cycles, including strategy development, negotiations, customer engagement, and closing activities.
- Foster a high-trust team environment grounded in integrity, respect, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Set a strong example for managers and sales professionals while providing constructive and reinforcing feedback.
- Remove barriers to team performance and advocate for effective collaboration across sales and supporting functions.
- Ensure applicable security policies and processes are followed in support of secure software development and organizational objectives.
- Travel as required to support customers, sales activities, team engagement, and business development initiatives.
- Typically 12+ years of sales experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity and approximately 2 years in a formal management role within the technology industry.
- Demonstrated success achieving sales targets and delivering measurable revenue growth.
- Previous experience selling technology solutions to Government organizations or professional experience working within the Government sector.
- Proven experience with complex solution selling and managing, negotiating, and closing multiple complex sales opportunities.
- Previous sales management experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, supervisory, interpersonal, communication, and project leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coach sales professionals, diagnose performance gaps, and improve individual and team selling capabilities.
- Strong results orientation, with the ability to establish ambitious goals, track progress, and consistently work toward or exceed targets.
- Excellent judgment and resource-management skills, with the ability to determine priorities and allocate resources effectively.
- Ability to create and maintain a high-trust environment that promotes integrity, respect, collaboration, and accountability.
- Strong ability to communicate with customers, senior stakeholders, sales professionals, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex sales initiatives in a dynamic technology environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
