Job Description

Description:

District Manager (“DM”)

Water & Energy Services (“WES”) | Global Water Technology, Inc.

Executive Narrative: The District Manager for Water & Energy Services is responsible for the overall health, performance, and scalability of a defined district consisting of multiple territories, teams, and client portfolios. This role serves as the connective layer between regional strategy and territory-level execution. The District Manager’s primary mandate is to ensure that GWT’s Water & Energy Services business within the district is structured, staffed, and managed in a way that supports sustained growth, strong financial performance, and consistent service quality. The DM translates regional objectives into actionable district plans, balancing strategic priorities with operational realities.

Unlike the Territory Manager, whose focus is on day-to-day execution, the District Manager operates with a broader lens. They evaluate patterns across territories, identify systemic risks or inefficiencies, and implement structural improvements. They anticipate where the district must evolve in terms of talent, capacity, processes, and client mix in order to support future growth.

Financial leadership is central to the DM role. The DM reviews district-level performance data, margins, productivity metrics, and client economics. They work with Territory Managers to improve profitability, optimize resource allocation, and strengthen the economic foundation of the Water & Energy Services business. The DM ensures that growth is not only achieved, but achieved responsibly and sustainably. The DM is also a key architect of the district’s talent strategy. They recruit and develop Territory and Senior Managers and emerging leaders, establish performance expectations, and create clear pathways for professional development. The DM ensures that GWT’s Water & Energy Services teams are not only technically proficient, but also commercially disciplined and culturally aligned.

Operationally, the DM provides oversight and guidance without becoming embedded in routine execution. They ensure that GWT’s technical standards, service models, safety protocols, and client experience expectations are consistently met across territories. When challenges arise, the DM intervenes at a structural level, equipping Territory Managers with the tools, resources, and frameworks needed to resolve issues and prevent recurrence. In essence, the District Manager ensures that the Water & Energy Services business within the district operates as a scalable system rather than a collection of isolated teams, positioning GWT for long-term growth and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

District Strategy and Planning

· Develop district-level growth and staffing plans aligned with regional strategy.

· Anticipate future capacity needs, talent gaps, and operational risks.

· Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, client segmentation, and resource allocation.

Financial Leadership

· Review district P&L performance, margins, and cost structure.

· Analyze performance data across territories to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

· Drive initiatives to improve profitability, productivity, and revenue quality.

Talent and Leadership Development

· Recruit, develop, and retain Territory Managers and high-potential leaders.

· Establish performance standards, coaching rhythms, and succession plans.

· Elevate leadership capability across the district.

Operational Oversight

· Ensure consistent execution of GWT technical standards, service models, and client experience.

· Provide guidance and escalation support to Territory Managers.

· Align district operations with corporate systems and processes.

Cross-Functional Integration

· Coordinate with corporate resources including Sales, Inside Sales, Technical Services, and Operations.

· Ensure effective leverage of GWT corporate capabilities within territories.

Mergers, Acquisitions, and Integration

· Support regional leadership in the integration of acquired teams and client portfolios within the district.

· Lead district-level integration of people, processes, and operational structures to align with GWT standards and expectations.

· Oversee onboarding and assimilation of acquired personnel, including role clarity, training, and performance alignment.

· Manage the transition of client relationships and service programs to GWT’s operating model within the district.

· Partner with Territory Managers and corporate teams to realign account ownership, staffing coverage, and workflows following acquisitions.

· Identify and address operational and organizational integration risks to ensure stability, service continuity, and cultural alignment.

Typical Qualifications:

· 12–20+ years of progressive experience in water treatment, energy services, industrial services, or a related technical field.

· Demonstrated success leading multi-team or multi-territory operations with direct accountability for operational performance and financial outcomes.

· Strong understanding of industrial water treatment systems including boilers, cooling towers, closed-loop systems, and water safety programs.

· Proven ability to analyze operational and financial data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable improvement plans.

· Experience recruiting, developing, and managing leaders and technical professionals in a field-based organization.

· Track record of improving client retention, service quality, and team performance in complex operating environments.

· Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership and problem solving.

· Strong communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills across technical, commercial, and executive audiences.

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, business, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.

· Certified Water Technologist (CWT) or similar credential preferred.

Working Conditions: The District Manager role requires regular travel throughout the district to support Territory Managers, client relationships, and operational oversight. Work is performed in a mix of office settings and client environments including industrial facilities, mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, healthcare facilities, and commercial buildings. The role requires flexibility in working hours, including availability outside standard business hours to address operational issues, leadership needs, or client concerns. Overnight travel may be required depending on district geography and business demands.

Physical Requirements: The District Manager must be able to travel frequently by automobile and occasionally by air, walk and stand within industrial and commercial environments, and utilize standard office technology. While the role is primarily leadership-focused, it may require occasional physical activity in client facilities, including limited lifting or carrying of equipment or materials up to approximately 25–50 pounds when supporting field activities or site visits.

Perks & Benefits:

· Competitive salary and comprehensive group health care benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage.

· Performance-based incentive plan tied to company growth, operational improvements, and achievement of key objectives, providing significant additional earnings potential.

· Access to industry-leading training, leadership development, and mentoring programs designed to foster long-term career success.

· Company vehicle program or reimbursement plan for required travel to GWT locations, client sites, or industry events.

· Career advancement opportunities within a growing, nationally recognized organization in the water treatment and safety industry—an essential, recession-resilient, and pandemic-resilient field.
