About the Role

Burke is looking for a compassionate, dependable, and skilled Therapist to join our Centralized Intake team in Lufkin.

In this role, you'll provide diagnostic evaluations, intake assessments, and emergency mental health assessments for individuals seeking services throughout Burke's 11-county service area. You'll help determine eligibility for Burke services, identify appropriate referrals, and assess individuals experiencing mental health crises to determine the level of care needed.

You'll work closely with clinical staff and leadership to coordinate assessments and connect individuals with appropriate services. We're looking for someone who demonstrates sound clinical judgment, communicates effectively, and can manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

• Conduct diagnostic evaluations and intake assessments to determine eligibility for Burke services or appropriate community referrals.
• Perform emergency mental health assessments to determine the need for crisis intervention or inpatient hospitalization.
• Complete required clinical assessments and maintain accurate, timely documentation.
• Coordinate scheduling, dispatch, triage, and disposition of assessments with Service Directors and clinical coordinators.
• Collaborate with clinical staff and community providers to support appropriate referrals and continuity of care.
• Follow established clinical guidelines, Burke policies, Medicaid requirements, and accreditation standards.
• Complete documentation accurately and within required timeframes.
• Travel throughout Burke's service area as needed.
• Work under the direction of the Centralized Intake Service Director.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Counseling.
• Current Texas licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Psychologist.
• Valid Texas driver's license with a driving record insurable by Burke's insurance administrator.
• Ability to complete required training, including Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA), CPR, First Aid, and Defensive Driving.

Preferred

• At least six (6) months of full-time direct care experience in a mental healthcare setting.
• At least six (6) months of experience conducting mental health screenings and assessments, preferably with both adults and children/adolescents.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to see, hear, communicate verbally, bend, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, write legibly, and drive a vehicle for work-related travel. Must also be physically able to assist individuals receiving services, carry charts and equipment, and complete required training.
