This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Area Director of Sales, Trauma based in United States.

Accountabilities:

The Area Director of Sales, Trauma will lead regional commercial activities, develop sales strategies, and manage teams to achieve business objectives within the orthopedic healthcare market. This role requires strong leadership, business acumen, and the ability to build trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets, growth objectives, and market expansion goals.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Regional Managers and Sales Consultants to maximize team performance and customer engagement.
  • Manage sales operations, budgets, product portfolios, and commercial initiatives within the assigned geography.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key surgeons, healthcare professionals, and strategic partners to identify new opportunities.
  • Provide clinical and procedural expertise to support product adoption and customer success.
  • Analyze market trends, customer insights, healthcare dynamics, and competitive intelligence to guide business decisions.
  • Collaborate with finance, commercial operations, and other cross-functional teams to optimize go-to-market strategies and pricing approaches.
  • Drive talent development initiatives by coaching, retaining, and building a strong pipeline of future sales leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and ethical standards while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an accomplished healthcare sales leader with experience managing complex commercial organizations and driving growth in competitive markets. They should bring strong leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, and expertise in medical technology sales environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; background in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant business experience, including at least 5 years of management experience.
  • Proven success leading sales teams and achieving measurable commercial results.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage through change and operate effectively within complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare markets, customer segmentation, business intelligence, and industry trends.
  • Experience with strategic planning, project management, and sales performance measurement.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to use metrics and analytics to drive decisions.
  • Proven ability to coach, develop, retain, and attract diverse talent.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence customers and internal partners while delivering comprehensive solutions.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40–50% and live within or near the assigned territory.
