OR Technician at RWJBarnabas Health – New Brunswick, New Jersey

RWJUH is seeking a OR Tech at the New Brunswick campus,

This is a full-time evening position 40 hours/week,

Please note the hours for this position are 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Requirements/Qualification:

The Operating Room Technician OR Tech performs all function as follows:

Provides assistance to the Surgical team in various settings by acquisition and preparation of the equipment and supplies required for the case,

The OR Tech demonstrates knowledge not limited to aseptic technique, universal precautions/ isolation precautions, OR surgical attire, patient positioning and body mechanics, specimens, proper cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining various OR equipment, and stocking linens, etc,

Team player, maintain professional attitude and departmental code of conduct,

Able to read printed materials, with eye hand coordination and manual dexterity, ability to hear conversational voice with or without hearing aid, able to lift and move heavy objects and able to remain calm in critical and emergent situations,

Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs handwashing according to policy and enforces safety regulations,

Strictly adheres to all infection control practices

Provides training and orientation to staff and new personnel for both routine and complex cases,

Assists in the training programs for new OR techs and for ongoing education,

Maintains competency by attending departmental in-service training,

Performs other duties as assigned by the ORT Director

Education:

Prior OR experience as an OR tech preferred,

Basic Life Support BLS through the American Heart Association AHA required,

High School diploma
