About This Position

Position Summary

The position is responsible for overseeing the execution of all American Chemistry Council (ACC) executive level conferences and board-related events. The position is further responsible for directing and overseeing ACC’s Conference Center and reports directly to the Vice President, Governance, Strategy and Corporate Secretary.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

■ Oversees meeting support for applicable ACC events.

■ Manages the internal meetings function, including space allocation, reservations and catering.

■ Organizes all phases of executive level events, including site selection, contract negotiation, logistics management, and budget oversight.

■ Researches and retains keynote speakers as well as manages executed contractual agreements, including lodging, transportation, material, gifts, etc.

■ Reviews and reconciles hotel bill of applicable ACC events and ensures appropriate payment is disbursed.

■ Provides on-site meetings assistance for designated events.

■ Maintains effective working relationships with appropriate internal staff and external contacts, including members, customers, vendors, business partners, etc.

■ Oversees the day-to-day work activities of employees within the Meetings and Conferences work unit, including establishing performance objectives, conducting performance reviews, and facilitating employee development for direct reports.

■ Develops and tracks departmental annual operational budget.

■ Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

■ Bachelor’s degree in related-field.

■ 12 years’ event management experience.

■ Demonstrated experience in meeting and conference coordination and management.

■ Strong written and oral communications skills, as well as the ability to give internal and public presentations.

■ Ability to cultivate and manage high quality stakeholder relationships.

■ Ability to build consensus, work in a team environment, and coordinate across multiple groups within a large organization.

■ Expertise as a leader with demonstrated skills in leading, coaching and mentoring staff.

■ Ability to travel domestically.
