About This Position

Reporting directly to the Manager of Institutional Research, this position plays a key role in state and federal reporting activities and institutional research. The position compiles, maintains, and analyzes institutional data in various formats; produces reports and metrics based on the department’s needs; and responds to time-critical ad-hoc requests. Additionally, this position maintains selected databases and document libraries, updating and ensuring data quality and accuracy.
  • Assists in assembling, preparing, tracking, and transmitting documents in a timely manner for state and ad hoc reporting.
  • Research and reports data collection, analysis, and dissemination of standardized reports to meet college standards.
  • Submits and retrieves data files electronically to and from state and/or federal data centers.
  • Uses various programs in Microsoft Office to type correspondence, charts, tables, forms, reports, and other documents.
  • Develops statistical reports and procedures for proactive data collection and analysis to enhance data-based decision-making by senior administrators.
  • Creates and maintains statistical and research records for all areas of the College, as needed.
  • Assists with organization and computerized data entry in conjunction with various institutional research projects.
  • Develops and maintains electronic spreadsheets of database data, enrollment/FTE, and research information.
  • Assists in the verification of data for state database reporting, including Student database, Personnel database, Facilities database, Annual Personnel Report (APR), and ad hoc reports.
  • Assists with database extracts from the College’s ERP system and the aggregation and analysis of that data.
  • Assists in design and development of publications and multi-media presentations for Board, Planning Council, and College Committees.
  • Develops and tracks database reporting timelines and expedites college-wide departmental compliance of data input and correction to satisfy required deadlines.
  • Assists in the coordination of reports and collection of information from college departments to meet state, federal, and ad hoc deadlines.
  • Tracks and prioritizes information and research requests, assembles reports, and maintains schedules.
  • Conducts web-based institutional research tasks based on instructions provided by the Director.
  • Prepares research data for report preparation, including charts, graphs, and various other electronic and multimedia presentation materials.
  • Provides research and data support to grants, communications and public affairs, The Foundation, student services, finance, and curriculum and workforce education divisions, as well as all other areas as assigned by the Director.
  • Serves on standing committees in support of the College’s mission, vision, goals, and core values of the College.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to understand general policies and procedures, to follow written and oral directions, and to proceed with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstration of strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be dependable, thorough, detail-oriented, and committed to producing quality work.
  • Demonstration of excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (SQL and/or Python) to extract data and performance analysis, and experience with database management.
  • Ability to design and apply predictive, inferential, and scenario modeling techniques to support decision-making, enrollment planning, program evaluation, and institutional effectiveness.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and dashboard development (e.g., Tableau, Quicksight, Cognos).
  • Proficiency with statistical software (SPSS, SAS< Strata, and/or R) and ability to apply descriptive and inferential methods (e.g., t-tests, ANOVA, Regression).
  • Demonstration of advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Ability to use spreadsheet and relational database software programs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of data, files, and personnel information.

  • Must be flexible and able to adapt well to changes.

Salary and Benefits Information
  • This position is level P14.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, social sciences or related field from an accredited institution is required.

Preferred Education:
  • A master’s degree in the above fields is preferred.
Required Experience:
  • At least two years of computerized data handling and electronic data transfer experience is required.

Preferred Experience:
  • Higher Education experience preferred.
