About This Position

Overview
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Steel Door Manufacturing Group. This role ensures products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, while meeting production timelines and cost objectives.

As a key leader on the production floor, you will work closely with team members to drive performance across manufacturing, quality, safety, and people management.

Key Responsibitilies

Production & Operations Management

  • Oversee daily manufacturing activities and assign work orders
  • Monitor progress against production schedules and adjust as needed to minimize downtime
  • Ensure efficient use of labour, materials, and equipment

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and support production employees to achieve performance goals
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment
  • Support employee training and development initiatives

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce workplace safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and participate in incident investigations

Quality Assurance

  • Perform regular quality checks (e.g., dimensions, welds, hardware preparation)
  • Identify and address quality issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Maintain consistent product quality standards

Daily Operations & Communication

  • Lead daily toolbox meetings to communicate priorities, targets, and safety updates
  • Provide timely updates to management on production status, delays, and operational challenges
  • Ensure smooth shift transitions through clear documentation and communication

Inventory & Equipment Management

  • Monitor material usage and anticipate shortages
  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Complete daily production and supervisor reports
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities and incidents

Qualifications & Experience
  • 5+ years experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Industrial, or a related technical field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions
