Job Overview:
The Pharmacy Technician provides essential support in pharmaceutical services under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. You will perform technical and clerical tasks involved in the preparation and distribution of medications for all patient age groups, ranging from neonatal to geriatric populations. This role is vital in ensuring safe medication management and promoting positive patient outcomes through collaborative teamwork.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Current NJ Board of Pharmacy registration in good standing
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Proficiency in regulatory requirements and compliance with hospital policies
Preferred:
- PTCB certification
- Previous pharmacy experience
- Associate or Bachelor's degree
Scheduling Requirements
- Per Diem (Day)
Essential Functions:
- Assist the Registered Pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications, including aseptic technique for IV solutions.
- Operate medication management technology such as automated dispensing cabinets, inventory carousels, repackaging software, and the EMR.
- Strictly conform to all written hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards to ensure patient safety.
- Identify and report hazardous environments, safety issues, or medical errors to appropriate personnel.
- Support cost-effective practices and formulary compliance to optimize departmental productivity.
- Contribute to a positive work environment and professional staff relations to meet the hospital's mission.
- Execute additional assigned tasks or specialized projects based on departmental needs.
