About This Position

Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical & Workflow Responsibilities (Approximately 60%)
  • Lead by example in delivering efficient, high-quality patient care and client service
  • Support patient flow from intake through discharge, ensuring timeliness and accuracy
  • Assist with treatments, anesthesia monitoring, surgical prep, and recovery
  • Ensure all services are properly documented and invoiced accurately
  • Promote preventive care and client education during every interaction
  • Monitor hospitalized and surgical patients in accordance with state practice acts
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and laboratory spaces
  • Ensure proper use and accountability of supplies and inventory to minimize waste
  • Reinforce adherence to all hospital protocols, SOPs, and safety standards

Leadership & Operational Responsibilities (Approximately 40%)

  • Provide consistent on-floor leadership, especially in the absence of the Practice
  • Manager or medical leadership
  • Support daily scheduling adjustments to ensure appropriate staffing and workflow

  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of veterinary technician
  • staff
  • Mentor team members through hands-on coaching, real-time feedback, and
  • performance guidance
  • Conduct and support employee evaluations (30-day, 90-day, and annual reviews)
  • Address and mediate employee concerns in a fair, consistent, and professional manner
  • Support de-escalation of client concerns and ensure resolution aligns with
  • organizational standards
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and partner with leadership to implement solutions
  • Prepare the team for daily caseloads, including reviewing schedules, triaging treatment
  • boards, and ensuring continuity of care
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, SOPs, OSHA standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in inventory oversight, ensuring stock levels are maintained within budget
  • Ensure laboratory and medical equipment is maintained and functioning properly
  • Document and communicate incidents, concerns, and operational needs to leadership

Requirements:
  • 3–5+ years of veterinary technician experience
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong technical skills in anesthesia, surgery support, and patient care
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and coaching skills
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Commitment to teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role operates in a fast-paced clinical environment with exposure to animals of varyingtemperaments. Responsibilities include standing for extended periods, lifting and restraininganimals, and performing repetitive tasks. Exposure risks include animal bites or scratches,zoonotic diseases, cleaning chemicals, noise, and radiology procedures. Team members areexpected to follow all safety protocols and OSHA standards.
