Animal Eye Clinic – Orange Park is a specialty veterinary ophthalmology practice dedicated to providing advanced eye care for pets. We are committed to excellence in patient care, client communication, and collaboration with referring veterinarians. We utilize specialized diagnostics and surgical techniques to treat a wide range of ocular conditions.

We are seeking an experienced Lead Veterinary Technician/ Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our team. This role requires a motivated leader who can effectively oversee back-of-house operations, support the medical team, and ensure efficient workflow within the clinic. Requirements:

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience, training, or education in a veterinary facility required
• Experience in a multi-specialty veterinary facility and leadership/supervisory experience preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive veterinary experience with a strong commitment to the field
• Friendly, outgoing, people-oriented with a positive, professional attitude
• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to coordinate workflow and maintain efficiency in a fast-paced treatment area
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
• Comfortable training, coaching, and delegating tasks to medical team members
• Proficient with computer systems and veterinary medical records
• Skilled with anesthesia, venipuncture, and IV catheter placement
• Willingness to learn new techniques, adapt to change, and support continuous improvement
• Availability for some evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotating on-call duties

Education and Physical Requirements:

• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) preferred or equivalent experience for Lead Tech role
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical duties throughout an 8-hour shift

Medical Related Skills:
• Phlebotomy
• IV catheter placement
• Preparing and restraining animals during procedures
• General anesthesia experience, including induction and monitoring
• Assisting in surgery
• Apply bandages and perform wound care
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment

Ophthalmology-Specific Skills (preferred or willing to learn):

• Basic ocular diagnostics (Schirmer tear test, fluorescein staining, tonometry)
• Assisting with ophthalmic diagnostics, imaging, and surgeries
• Handling ophthalmic instruments and educating clients on topical medications
• Recognizing common ocular diseases and emergencies

Responsibilities/Duties include but are not limited to:

• Coordinate daily back-clinic operations to ensure efficiency and flow
• Provide leadership, training, and support to technicians and assistants
• Assist doctors with exams, diagnostics, anesthesia, and surgical procedures
• Maintain accurate medical records and communicate patient status to doctors
• Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, and at-home care
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper inventory in treatment and surgical areas
• Support a positive, collaborative clinic culture
