About This Position
The buyer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing goods and materials that meet the organization’s quality, cost, and delivery requirements. This role works closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure a reliable supply chain and support operational goals. Understand and work to support achievement of corporate / departmental objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives. · Source and evaluate suppliers – Identify potential vendors, assess capabilities, and maintain an approved supplier list. · Negotiate pricing and contracts – Secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and long-term supplier relations that support cost-saving initiatives. · Manage purchase orders – Create, track, and update purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery and accurate documentation. · Analyze market trends – Track pricing, availability, and industry developments to inform purchasing decisions. · Resolve supplier issues – Address delivery delays, quality concerns, and invoice discrepancies to maintain smooth operations. · Support cross-functional teams – Work with operations, engineering, quality, and finance teams to align purchasing with organizational needs. · Strong negotiation and communication skills · Ability to analyze data and make cost-effective decisions · Knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain principles · Attention to detail and strong organizational skills · Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment · Degree in business, supply chain, or related field (or equivalent experience) · Proficiency with ERP or purchasing software · Ability to read Mechanical Blueprints · Experienced in manufacturing environments · Experienced in Microsoft Office / including Excel · Familiarity with contract law and vendor compliance standards

In order to do this associates must a) understand the definition of “good quality” as it pertains to their work, b) notify supervisor of poor incoming quality issues from upstream suppliers which can take the form of materials, information or processes, c) notify supervisor of poor intra-departmental quality issues which can take the form of material, information or processes, and d) work in a constructive manner to satisfy downstream customers and upstream suppliers to solve problems.

· Work with supervisor to establish and meet individual training and development goals.
