About This Position

About the Role:

As a Welder within the Business Services industry in Canada, you will play a critical role in fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal structures and components to precise specifications. Your expertise will ensure the integrity and durability of welded joints across a variety of projects, contributing directly to the safety and quality standards of our operations. You will interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings to execute welding tasks using multiple techniques such as Arc, TIG, MIG, and Flux Core welding. The role demands meticulous attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols while working with stainless steel and other metals, often utilizing overhead cranes for material handling. Ultimately, your craftsmanship and technical skills will support the successful completion of projects that meet both client expectations and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of a recognized welding certification or apprenticeship program.
  • Proven experience in Arc, TIG, MIG, and Flux Core welding techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication processes and working with stainless steel.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience operating overhead cranes and other heavy material handling equipment.
  • Certification in brazing techniques.
  • Previous work experience in the Business Services or related industrial sectors.
  • Additional training in welding inspection and quality control.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform various welding techniques including Arc, TIG, MIG, and Flux Core to join metal parts according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents to determine welding requirements and procedures.
  • Operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment safely to position heavy metal components for welding.
  • Conduct metal fabrication tasks such as cutting, shaping, and assembling metal parts prior to welding.
  • Inspect welded joints for quality and structural integrity, making adjustments or repairs as necessary.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize welding processes and meet project deadlines.
  • Apply brazing techniques when required to join metal components that cannot be welded.

Skills:

The required welding skills such as Arc, TIG, MIG, and Flux Core are applied daily to create strong, precise welds that meet project specifications and safety standards. Reading blueprints and technical drawings is essential for understanding the exact requirements and dimensions of each welding task, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Metal fabrication skills are used to prepare components by cutting, shaping, and assembling metals before welding, which is critical for seamless integration of parts. Operating overhead cranes safely allows for the proper positioning of heavy materials, facilitating effective welding and reducing physical strain. Brazing skills complement welding techniques by enabling the joining of metals that require lower heat, expanding the range of materials and applications you can work with.
