Job Title: Receptionist

Reports to: Director of Care Management
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the care coordination of prospective and enrolled participants of Second Chance Center, Inc. (SCC) services. The Receptionist will create a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors to SCC by engaging in effective rapport-building strategies. The Receptionist is expected to be perceptive and empathetic to the client partner’s needs and always maintain a calm professional demeanor. The Receptionist will participate in team meetings, training, and other additional duties as assigned by the Director of Care Management. This position plays an integral role in the daily operation of SCC.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome guests while providing a welcoming, professional presence that serves all residents fairly and consistently.
- Monitoring visitors to the building and guiding visitors to sign in.
- Responding to client partners’ questions or concerns or elevating those questions or concerns to the appropriate Director and/or Care Manager(s) when needed.
- Answering the property telephone, directing calls to appropriate departments and taking messages.
- Maintain a phone log and respond to all messages.
- Respond to fire alarms and other emergencies. Responsible for calling first responders or Property Manager to ensure urgent situations are handled and reported appropriately.
- Keep the front desk organized and presentable with all necessary materials (pens, forms, paper, etc.).
- Receive letters, packages, etc., and maintain the mail log.
- Provide a hospitable experience for visitors to SCCIC.
- Provide a clean relaxing waiting environment for community and client partners.
- Assist in other administrative tasks as needed.
- Complete applicable data entry.
- Attend staff meetings and meetings with supervisors as requested.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Skilled in conflict mediation and negotiation.
- Ability to demonstrate clear, professional boundaries.
- Ability to work in a team environment and to work easily with a wide variety of people.
- Knowledge and experience in crisis prevention, intervention and resolution techniques and ability to match such techniques to circumstances.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly establish rapport with community and client partners.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and ability to use these and other required programs at an intermediate level.
- Ability to reliably commute to work.
- Ability to establish priorities in an environment of competing demands.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
- Good judgment and ability to function independently.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy.

Preferred Skills / Competencies are as follows:
- Bilingual (Fluent Spanish) preferred.
- Previous experience working with the re-entry population.
- Previous experience in community navigation and service coordination.
- Understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based care management practices.
Required Education and Experience:
- 0-2 years of relevant experience working in adult re-entry or with marginalized individuals.
- High School Diploma / GED
- 1+ years in administrative support such as front desk representative, agent, or relevant position.
- Familiarity with office machines (e.g. computers, printer, etc.).
- Knowledge of office management and coordination.
- Proficient in English (oral and written).

- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift up to 20 pounds.

Compensation & Merit Increases:
- The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00 per hour.
- Competitive pay commensurate with education and experience.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This position is part-time. Part-time employees may work 16-24 hours per week.
- Some evening and Saturday work may be required.
- This role is in-office.
