Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Perform fund development department duties under the direction of the Director of Fund Development and in collaboration with the Fund Development Associate:

Grant Development & Management

  • Identify grant opportunities (foundations, corporations, government) aligned with mission and programs
  • Draft grant proposals, concept notes, letters of inquiry, and budgets
  • Prepare supporting documents (program descriptions, evaluation plans, organizational background, etc.)
  • Coordinate data collection with program staff to ensure accurate, timely information
  • Assist with tracking deadlines, maintaining calendars, and managing the grants pipeline
  • Help with progress and final reports; ensure compliance with funder requirements
  • Cultivate and steward funders via impact updates, thank you communications, and ongoing engagement
  • Participate in strategy sessions with the development team to align grant efforts with organizational growth
  • Individual/Corporate Donor Stewardship

  • Work with the Director of Fund Development to strengthen individual and corporate donor cultivation: prospect research, strategy, communications/campaigns, and major gifts and corporate pipeline development
  • Donor database Management and Donor Communications

  • Assist the Fund Development Associate in managing the donor database (Bloomerang), as needed: data entry, cleanup, donor analysis, donor giving history and fundraising reports, donor segmentation and mailings for fundraising campaigns and events, while ensuring data accuracy
  • Help with donor communication materials including acknowledgement letters, impact reports and other collateral materials as needed
  • Special Events Assistance

  • Contribute to planning and executing annual fundraisers and special events: budgeting, promotion, venue selection, auctions, program design, staff coordination, sponsorship cultivation and solicitation, and post event donor acknowledgment
  • Ensure donor and partner recognition is carried out as promised
  • Other Duties

  • Assist with additional tasks as assigned to support the fund development function, including assisting the Fund Development Associate with CVC’s social media presence under the supervision of Director of Fund Development and Director of Marketing and Communications
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Deep understanding of the needs of the permanent supportive housing community, and ability to frame those needs to funders
  • Strong grant writing, editing, and narrative storytelling skills; ability to translate data into persuasive stories
  • Budgeting and financial literacy; comfortable preparing and presenting grant budgets
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and deadlines
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with CRM or donor database systems; Bloomerang experience preferred
  • Commitment to equity, social justice, and dignity of marginalized communities
  • Strong administrative and computer skills, especially in Excel and Word (mail merges, spreadsheets)
  • Skilled in prospect research and fundraising strategy
  • Ability to contribute in a collaborative environment and work autonomously
  • Experience managing logistics for successful events
  • Adaptability, intrinsic motivation, and comfort working in environments with high expectations
  • Meticulous, strong time management, calendar maintenance, and scheduling skills
  • Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in nonprofit fundraising, grants, or database management
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered
  • Working Conditions & Terms

  • This is a hybrid role, allowing for a mix of remote and on-site work
  • Occasional meetings or site visits may be required
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends
