The Payroll Clerk is responsible for the day-to-day activities associated with the Payroll and HR Department, ensuring data associated with payroll and employee personnel information is entered and maintained correctly.
Primary Responsibilities
- Audits automated and manual timecards for payroll processing.
- Responsible for setting up new hires and processing term files in various systems
- Assist with creating and processing electronic payroll files for submission to processing team
- Responsible all payroll inquiries and follows through with the payroll department tier structure
- Posts and monitors child support payments and wage garnishments for employees
- Reviews union agreement notices / effective dates and ensures they are up to date and filed correctly
- Audits entries in various system in order to ensure data integrity and correct entry errors as needed
- Coordinate with the HR department to ensure the correct employee data is on file
- Provide support to the payroll processing team
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Understanding of union/non-union
- Demonstrates flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem solving
- Proven time management and follow-through skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment
- Display superior written and oral communication skills and effective listening skills
- Maintain a tactful, mature and professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse personnel
Education and Experience
- A minimum of 2 years’ payroll administrative experience
- High School Diploma at a minimum, Associates degree
- High Volume environment
- Experience with Microsoft software such as Word, and Excel
