Job Description

Position Summary

The Component Picking Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating all component picking operations that support cabinet production. This role ensures the accurate, timely, and efficient picking, staging, and delivery of components to production lines while maintaining safety, quality, inventory accuracy, and productivity standards. The supervisor oversees team members across component picking functions, material flow, replenishment activities, and line-feeding operations to ensure uninterrupted production.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Management
  • Supervise, coach, and develop Component Pickers, Material Handlers, and Team Leads.
  • Conduct daily start-up meetings to communicate production goals, safety expectations, and operational priorities.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide ongoing feedback, training, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Maintain staffing levels and coordinate labor allocation to meet production demands.
Production Support & Material Flow
  • Ensure all production orders are picked accurately and delivered on time to support manufacturing schedules.
  • Coordinate component picking activities for both production line feeding and replenishment operations.
  • Prioritize workload based on production requirements, schedule changes, and urgent requests.
  • Monitor component availability and escalate shortages before they impact production.
  • Work closely with Production, Inventory Control, Receiving, and Warehouse teams to maintain material flow.
Inventory Accuracy
  • Ensure proper scanning, transaction processing, and inventory movements within the ERP/WMS system.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Support cycle counts, audits, and inventory reconciliation efforts.
  • Maintain accurate component locations and organization within picking areas.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Track and analyze KPIs related to picking accuracy, productivity, labor efficiency, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend layout, process, and workflow improvements to optimize material movement.
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety observations and housekeeping audits.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Quality Assurance
  • Ensure components are picked according to specifications and production requirements.
  • Minimize picking errors, shortages, and mis-shipments to production.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to resolve material-related issues.

QualificationsEducation
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish Required)
  • Associate's Degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
Experience
  • 3–5 years of warehouse, material handling, manufacturing, or logistics experience.
  • 1–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with inventory management systems, ERP, and barcode scanning systems preferred.
  • Experience in cabinet manufacturing, furniture manufacturing, or high-volume assembly operations is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control and material flow principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and production reporting.
  • Effective communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and drive performance improvements.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
  • Ability to operate or become certified on material handling equipment.
