Senior Consulting Manager, Business Advisory

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Consulting Manager, Business Advisory based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact consulting engagements focused on finance transformation, business advisory, and operational modernization.
You will partner with executive stakeholders to solve complex business challenges, improve processes, and enable technology-driven change.
The position combines strategic thinking, client leadership, team management, and hands-on transformation expertise.
You will help organizations evolve their finance functions by leveraging industry best practices, analytics, automation, and emerging AI capabilities.
Working in a collaborative consulting environment, you will influence client outcomes while contributing to practice growth and innovation.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Consulting Manager, Business Advisory will lead complex consulting engagements, guide client transformation initiatives, and support the continued growth of the advisory practice. This role requires strong leadership, strategic insight, and the ability to translate business challenges into practical solutions that improve finance operations and organizational performance.

  • Lead end-to-end client engagements, ensuring successful delivery within scope, timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
  • Advise finance and accounting leaders on transformation strategies, operating model improvements, process optimization, and technology enablement.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, acting as a strategic advisor throughout engagement lifecycles.
  • Manage consulting teams by providing coaching, mentorship, feedback, and support to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Develop executive-level presentations, recommendations, and deliverables that communicate complex business concepts clearly.
  • Support business development activities by identifying client opportunities, contributing to proposals, participating in sales pursuits, and strengthening client relationships.
  • Drive finance transformation initiatives, including process improvements, shared services optimization, technology implementations, and operating model modernization.
  • Apply industry knowledge and emerging trends to recommend innovative solutions that increase client value.
  • Incorporate AI technologies into consulting approaches by identifying automation opportunities, improving workflows, and advising clients on effective AI adoption.
  • Develop internal and external use cases that leverage AI, analytics, and digital solutions to improve business outcomes.
  • Improve consulting methodologies, tools, and delivery practices to increase engagement quality and team productivity.
  • Manage project governance activities, including workplans, milestone tracking, risk management, stakeholder communication, and change management.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced consulting professional with a strong background in finance transformation, business advisory, and client engagement leadership. They should bring a combination of functional finance expertise, consulting experience, leadership capability, and interest in emerging technologies.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of finance management consulting experience focused on finance strategy, transformation, operating models, process improvement, program management, or technology implementations.
  • 3+ years of experience managing, mentoring, and developing consulting teams.
  • Strong understanding of finance and accounting functions, transformation methodologies, and industry best practices.
  • Proven experience leading client engagements, managing workstreams, and delivering complex transformation initiatives.
  • Strong project and program management skills, including planning, execution tracking, risk management, communication, and change management.
  • Experience building relationships with executive stakeholders and communicating effectively with senior leadership audiences.
  • Familiarity with analytics, automation, and technology solutions such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Alteryx, Python, VBA, SQL, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of AI technologies and experience applying AI solutions to improve workflows, business processes, or finance operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex business concepts.
  • Commercial mindset with experience supporting proposals, business development, and client growth initiatives.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments while maintaining strong ownership and accountability.
  • Experience contributing to thought leadership, practice development, or internal capability-building initiatives is considered an asset.
