Finance Manager, Revenue Accounting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Finance Manager, Revenue Accounting based in Canada.

The Finance Manager, Revenue Accounting will play a key role in strengthening financial operations within a fast-growing environment.
This position is responsible for leading revenue accounting processes, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance with revenue recognition standards.
The role combines technical accounting expertise with cross-functional collaboration across finance, sales, legal, operations, and planning teams.
You will oversee critical order-to-cash processes, deferred revenue governance, and accounts receivable activities while driving operational improvements.
As a strategic finance partner, you will help build scalable processes, improve reporting accuracy, and support business growth.

Accountabilities:

The Finance Manager, Revenue Accounting will own key revenue accounting activities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency across financial processes.

  • Lead monthly and quarterly revenue close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, revenue analysis, deferred revenue reviews, accounts receivable reporting, and management reporting packages.
  • Manage revenue recognition activities in alignment with ASC 606 requirements, including contract reviews, accounting assessments, and documentation of revenue treatment.
  • Oversee deferred revenue governance by preparing rollforwards, analyzing balances, investigating unusual items, and ensuring revenue is recognized appropriately and on time.
  • Manage retail partner accounts receivable processes, including aging analysis, statement distribution, collections follow-up, dispute resolution, and payment issue management.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Sales, Legal, Operations, and FP&A to evaluate customer contracts and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Develop and maintain revenue metrics, working capital reporting, deferred revenue analysis, and other financial performance insights.
  • Drive improvements across revenue and order-to-cash processes by identifying inefficiencies and implementing scalable solutions.
  • Support external audit activities by preparing documentation, responding to requests, and ensuring accounting practices meet compliance standards.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, helping strengthen accounting capabilities and promote continuous learning.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings strong revenue accounting expertise, technical accounting knowledge, and experience operating in a high-growth environment with complex financial processes.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including revenue accounting, order-to-cash processes, and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards and experience performing technical accounting assessments.
  • Proven experience managing deferred revenue balances, revenue realization reviews, and accounting close processes.
  • Experience overseeing accounts receivable operations, collections activities, customer deductions, and working capital management.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and communicate complex accounting topics clearly.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, scaling organization with evolving processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, large data analysis, and reporting automation.
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP is required.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms is required.
  • Familiarity with revenue automation tools such as NetSuite ARM, Zuora, Stripe, Chargebee, or similar platforms is considered an asset.
